Thanks for the replies guys. I fish spinnerbaits usually tip down. I'm using a Citica 200d 6.2:1 ratio. I have another baitcaster that is browning brand and its 6.2:1 also.

I am using bps rods. They are im6 but I'll have to look at them tomorrow to get the actual model name. I'm using a citica reel but it's not the new style citica. I'll have to check it to get the actual ratio as well.

I'm wanting to get a new rod/baitcaster combo and don't really know how to pick out my rod. Right now both of my rods are 6'6 medium heavy with fast action tip. When I use 3/8oz spinners on these it feels weird, it bows the rod pretty bad and feels real heavy. What type of rod would you suggest for a big spinner such as 3/8-1/2oz?

We set out early yesterday morning for a morning of fishing. We got the boat in the water just after it had got a little light outside. We hit our first spot, I was the first to start getting any bites. I used a weightless senko. We were casting towards the bank, and only caught small ones all day. About 1lb or less. My dad went to a Senko and he started catching also, but they were small. Right before we were about to head in, the guy on the back of the boat (3 of us) casted out into open water. He let it sink and actually caught one that was 2lb's. What are we doing wrong? I always catch bigger bass from the bank, and usually more bass too. I think we arent fishing deep enough water. But I would like some opinions on that. We are fishing East TN and water temp was 77 degrees.

My first time fishing a pond. The first cast, I was using a jig and caught a small lm bass. He was real small, less than 1lb. I fish another 20minutes with no hits so I decide to use a weightless senko t-rigged. I move on down and cast it. I get a nice hit on it on the first cast and set the hook, he was on and he went one direction and then back the next and then I lost him. I get 3 more hits and didn't manage to hook any of them. I was using gamakatsu 3/0 ewg hooks. I waited on the 2nd one and then reeled up the slack and hookset, it just came free. Is there a chance this pond only has tiny bass? My wife caught one that was about a pound but it was the biggest I've seen. She caught both of hers on a 1/8oz buzzbait. The other was very small also, probably 10oz or so. This pond has plenty of catfish, and I seen a lot of minnows up next to the bank also. I seen plenty of bluegill and what looked like a gar also. The water is pretty clear, but I'm wondering if this pond holds 3lb+ bass.

Congrats on catching bass in the river with no bass I can't really help out with the other questions, I'm fairly new to fishing. I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Why do they die in the livewell? We've always released as soon as they are unhooked. We never have fished a tournament yet. If killing fish is part of the fishing a tournament I'll never fish one (dieing in livewell).

I went from a 50$ Bass Pro rod to a $130 rod and theres a huge difference in sensitivity even though they are both 6'6 mh with fast action.

I went to a spot I fish fairly often today. I started out with a spinner, then moved to a buzz and finally tried my spook. Bass were breaking water everywhere around me, but I never got anything to hit at anything I had. I went to the same spot two days ago and had 3 roll ups at my buzz with one being a successful hookup. He was about 2lb but probably a little under. Anyone got any suggestions or know what I could do in this situation? I'm new to bass fishing, just started this summer.

I have some rebel brand pop-r's and they don't seem to work right for me. They don't pop, they just go underwater when you try to give them a pop. I have some XPS poppers and they work fine. I just wonder if theres something I dont know about the rebel poppers.

I just got back from bass pro. I got some 5inch Senko's in Watermelon/black speckle. Will the Senko work best weightless? You guys are about the clostest we know to anglers. I don't really know anyone that fishes.
