  1. Went yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours and caught 10 between my stepson and myself. I went to a different lake today and caught 24. Hard to get good pics by myself but I got a few. Water was 46 deg this morning starting out. They were really slow to start off.
  2. They ride just under the water surface. Mine have a float on the line so that it can be unhooked from the boat in a hurry if needed and recovered. They work really well this time of year if your fishing a flat or cove that you can set up a drift in while casting jerkbaits or cranks.
  3. We use drift socks quite a bit in strong windy conditions. Combined with the trolling motor it can make for manageable fishing in strong winds.
  4. Went out to small lake yesterday and did well despite the 20mph winds. My stepson and I caught 25 in 4 1/2 hours. Some pics of the better ones. We caught a few smallies mixed in with the green ones. Water temp of 49 degrees.
  5. Nice post. Not everyone in New England hates charlie. I enjoy a good laugh every time I watch his show.
  6. One of mine does this and it has not caused any harm to it yet. Clears up fast once the unit is powered.
  7. One of the best fluro lines out there and the price is right.
  8. Spinning rod is better equipment to use.
  9. Learn to use drift socks and your trolling motor in combination. It works and will allow for fishing in winds that drive most fishermen to the couch.
  10. Just keep taking her out and she will get it. My wife picked up using soft plastics after a couple of times out.
  11. Suspending jerkbaits for early season- then grubs, small worms, jigs-topwater for summer and then back to jerkbaits in the fall
  12. They are really starting to bite good. Caught 15 yesterday afternoon after work. Caught these two at the same time on Easter Sunday.
  13. How many times are gonna catch that pet fish and take pics of him? Lol nice fish dave.
  14. Those things dont work . If anyone has any they need to throw away I can properly dispose of them for ya ;D
  15. Sebec has lots of nice smallmouths in it. Big lake with lots of good smallmouth water. I would try topwaters if its calm. The usual plastics will also work-senkos, grubs, lizards and craw imitations. The fish will be anywhere from shallow morning and nite to 10-15 down. You could also try rattle traps, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and small craw imitating crank baits. Should be alot of fun. You might also make a side trip up to Moosehead and try lily bay. A fair number of 5-6 lb smallies being caught up there this year. Good luck.
  16. Hey Husky, If the Davebass1 youre fishing with is from up here in Maine I fish some of his tournaments. I fished sat at one of Daves events and it was awful. Yesterday the club my wife and I are in were at a different lake which was much better. The hot lure up here this year seems to be the good old lizzard in green or pumpkin. The bass see plenty of ikas, senkos, spinnerbaits-they work ok. Small jigs (eakins or bitsy bug), topwaters, tubes-usually all you need. The water yesterday was 75, weve had lots of rain that has cooled the lakes down some. The 3 best smallies we got yesterday came from 20-25' down. Have fun.
