  1. I have heard thru quite a few local fishermen. "Deadstick that fluke, dead stick that fluke!" I have a general idea....could someone explain this deadsticking for me. Heard its good in the winter too. Thanks!!!
  2. I dug out my topo map of the lake I fish the most. I see where the "river channel" runs on the map. Do I need to try and follow the river channel on the map? I have seen a very well known fisherman fish a certain part of this before not realizing what he was fishing. I guess I know now. Also found some sumerged roadbeds. What do I look for on my graph once I get in the general area of the roadbeds and channel. I'm assuming this is where I need to rely on my electronics. Another quick question. The map is showing "railroad grades".....Whats that? Thanks!
  3. I consider myself a decent bass fisherman. I've fished numerous tournys doing decent. I love to bass fish, it's my passion. I feel though it is time for me to take it up a notch. I have a few fishing buddies but it's them asking "Hey what do I do now? What do I throw?" Which I don't mind at all. Regardless. Piers, laydowns, shallow brush, bushes......I fish all the shallow stuff good and catch a decent limit. I need to go deeper I believe to catch more quality fish. I've fished points and some breaklines without a lot of luck. I have a good arsenal of deep "stuff" but to where I put them is the problem. I see a lot about channels, roadbeds, etc. and "find their path find the bass." I've read all the articles on bass resource concerning deep bass. I apologize about rambling on...................greenheads on my mind. any advice, tips tricks??? Thanks in advance!
  4. I am determined to catch a smallmouth. I have been up to Fontana Lake in the NC mtns one time and all I heard was smallmouth smallmouth...... Well I caught a lot of greenheads. No smallies. I am going back in October after they let the lake down. Since I was there in the summer the locals told me to wait till right a dusk or dawn to try and catch'em. Nada. They said wait till October when the lake goes down (20 - 50 down to prepare for snow melting I believe) and the smallmouth should be everywhere about anytime. Any advice, tips, tricks???? Thanks!!!!!!
  5. Awesome! Thanks for the help! Hopefully I won't lose another bass. The 4oz penalty sucks too. THANKS!!!!!
  6. I have caught some bass this summer in over 16' of water that go belly up as soon as they are put in the livewell. Rejuvinade doesn't help them out. My shallow fish do fine in the livewell. I was told my culprit was their "swim bladder"? "Coming up to fast screws them up and they don't have time to adjust their swim bladder." I know deep sea fishing I have actually seen the fish's swim bladder come out of their mouths like a bubble. But greenheads? If it is their "swim bladder," can I help deflate it? And would this harm them at all? I try to release all my bass. Advice? Hints? Tricks? Thanks!
  7. Anyone here that fishes the Yadkin chain in NC? High Rock, Tuckertown, Badin, Tillery. I fish the chain quite a bit. Mostly Badin and High Rock. I fish the NBC Yadkin Trail also. Anyone wanna fish?
