Line Options For Trying Spybaiting....or Just Put It Away For Now?
Opening weekend is finally here in Upstate New York. Between buying a new house last fall and coaching boys little league baseball and girls traveling softball I have only gotten out a few times recently and I am really looking forward to putting some of my winter lure acquisitions to the test this Saturday. I will be fishing a gin clear lake that holds impressive smallies with very little weeds, rocky, sand bottom. Normally I fish in depths of 6-15' of water. I picked ups a Duo Spybait and would love to give it a try as this lake seems to be the type of conditions it excels in. But after doing some reading, lighter is better when it comes to line choices. I run braid with 10-15 foot leaders on my spinning gear. I have two choices in leaders to use and was looking for some advise on what would be better to use, or if I should just wait to try the lure when I can get some different leader line. I usually use 6lb yozuri hybrid, normal, not the soft, or BPS 8lb fluro. What leader line should I use or should I put the lure back in the tackle box until I can get some 4 or 6lb fluro leaders?

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
I fish these same lakes. Try the North end of Skaneateles. Great fishing.

Organizing For Fishing
Last year, even though it broke my heart, I sold my boat to pay for the closing costs on my first home. It will be a couple of years before I can get another one, so I need some advice on organizing my gear for fishing from shore or someone else's boat. I have the option of going fishing with my dad on his boat and fishing from shore at a couple locations that aren't too bad. I accumulated a lot of tackle and I cut down a lot of it as without the boat, no way I could justify it all. Well, I have my normal box of stick baits, separate box for square bills, separate box for crankbaits, separate jig box, separate top water, separate drop shot binder etc..... I hate the idea of getting to the spot or on the water and not having what "would of worked that day", if I had only remembered it. But there is no way I can take it all with me. Would you try to make the best guess on what to take based on knowledge of time of year and water fishing? Or would you maybe organize the boxes to have a little of each in them? Maybe a shallow water box containing different baits for that type of water? Maybe a plastic binder with a few drop shot baits, few flukes, little of this and that? What do you think I should do to downsize what I have to pack and lug around? Maybe even going to a smaller tackle bag and carry less baits? Looking for opinions. Thanks in advance.

Are You Willing To Buy Expensive Lures?
If you go anywhere near big bay, forget about it. 100 casts, 100 pickerel.

Ya, and the Pickerel usually intersect when you are fishing for walleye on Oneida opening weekend!

Finishing Tackle Purchases, Need Some Opinions.
Winter is sloooooooowly winding down here in upstate NY. Hopefully I can be doing a little trout fishing in just over a month. I have been a little more selective with my tackle purchases this winter as we just bought our first house in October and just recently bought a nice SUV. So no crazy tackle purchases this winter. A few great deals from great guys here in the flea market, a small order with BPS and a few select items from TW (DUO and Jackall jerkbaits, DUO and R2S crankbaits, couple packages of keitechs). As I put my gear into their spots in the tackle boxes, I notice a few holes I need to fill in the boxes. I was hoping that I could get a little advice to fill these few remaining spots. Please let the opinions flow. Shoot your color choices as well. Thanks in advance guys. I need one each of the following: 1) 2.5 size squarebill 1) 6-10 ft crankbait 1) 12-16ft crankbait 1) 3/4 oz size lipless crankbait I got out only once this winter fishing, and managed to catch my first steelhead. Thanks to my brother. I caught two back to back in the first five minutes I was there. Awesome. But ready for bass season to get here.

The Adventures Of Listing Things On Craigslist And All The Fun I Had...riiiight
You have to be real careful with craigslist. They think that after you are there you will just accept it. Seen it before. People are people I guess. But that is a common scam on there. That and people wanting to buy the merchandise for a child or veteran out of the country.

Fd's 5Th Annual Fishmas Loot Thread
I just laughed when I opened it. We were definitely on the same wave length. I cant wait to try the Kelly j and I love the megabass line of baits. The Yozuri is one of my favorites. Everything to Walleye in the spring to northerns in summer and of course small and large mouths. Let me know how it does for you. Thanks again, I will get a pic posted soon, my wife is exhausting with all the shopping. Have a great holiday! O, and let me know how the white does? Been dying to try that color.
