Well after all the advice and information what did you do eyedabassman? And how do u like the bird? I am going back and forth myself 898----998 no go ahead and speed it all 1198!! I don't know I am leaning toward the 998 just me a middle of the road guy. Ha

im in a similar situation but my decision my be based on the mounting of the transducer. I just bought a 2000 Javlin Venom its a 17 footer with a 115 Johnson I'll post a pic when i get one that does it justis . The hull of the boat at teh stern is a little different. So I may need to put a "through the hull transducer" in. Javlin and Stratos are very much alike, do you know anyone with a Stratos that mounted the transducer thenselves?

That looks like a heck of a jon boat. I've fished out of a 16 ft 48or more before. and the 9.9/15 hp the guy had on it could plane it out. It was a very nice boat to fish from.

what reel did you go with on the g-loomas, and what did you think of it?
