Help me catch smallmouth.
The ways i catch smallmouth are ussualy on a soft plastic worm or craw. I also use crankbaits to. The biggest smallmouth i caught last year was on a YUM soft plastic craw that was gray on top, and red on the bottom, rigged with a jighead inside the craw, and fished right under a dock. I have also caught a lot of smallmouth on a Craw-Pappi. For worms, I use Senkos and T-rigged 4" curly tail worms. Berkly has a great color out for Powerworms that is black with a Chartreuse curly tail. Pumkinseed and watermellon are good colors also. for senkos i use a 4-5" worm rigged wacky with a 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus circle. I ussualy use a green color. For Cranks, I ussualy use lipless cranks. Rat-l-traps are good in most colors and so are Rapala's Rattlin' minnows in baby bass color. I also use Strike King red-eye shad in Sexy shad color and every once in a while i will throw out a lipped Sexy Shad. Hope it helps!!! 8-)

Want Sponsors?
I think this is completely true. I am a few years younger than you, (13), and I think that is the reason I would want a sponsor. For right now though it is just for fun. gettin' out there and getting practice. I am a part of the BASSMASTER youth program, so I am eligable to compete in tournaments. I really think that I will want to get sponsors later, and keep fishing with my dad and older brothers til I get better. 8-)

CA, OR or Washington at the end os March-1st. of April?
Potholes and Moses lake are good lakes, less than a mile apart. i hear the snake river is a great spot to target smallies. Couer d' alene lake is a good one. Pend Oreille is a bit of a drive but it is a great lake. Dworshak is great. the Dalles is great. the JOHN DAY RIVER is a smallmouth metropolis. fish it with lipless cranks, chartreuse curly tails grubs, and of course, worms. Tell me if you catch sometin' Tight lines ;D

So keep fishing and post big bass pics here and please follow the rules. (SMALLIES OVER 5 LBS and LM OVER 6 LBS.) Tight Lines!!! ;D

Spokane Newbie!
Very few people from here. I would suggest a spinnerbait for eloika slow rolled right as it hits the water. this is a VERY weedy lake. If you have a kid under 15, bear lake is a small lake that has some hhhhuuuuggggeee LMB's and Channel cats. Newman is really good for worm or jig fishing in the south east corner. you will find a small creek like area with lillypads on both sides. caught a few nice ones out of there. back to bear lake, recently caught a nice 4 Lber out of there that was safely caught and released. Long lake is a good lake for SM and LMB. Fish with a small perch colored shad rap, white spinnerbait, or 4 inch powerworm with a black body and a chartreuse tail. also, for smallmouth, there are 2 really nice spots on lake roosevelt. one is at porcupine bay, (fish in summer), the other is hawk creek harbor. these are 2 nice spots. one piece of advice is to go to washingtonlakes.com. they have reports for different lakes in washington and also rivers in all different counties. One person who would be good to talk to on there is spokanebassman. He has a lot of really nice reports from liberty lake where he caught either 5lb SM or 6 LB LMB. These are all lakes that are really good. One more spot for river fishing is actually, well, i can't tell you the exact spot, but one spot at plese flats down the trail on the spokane river. i've caught some SM and 1 LM out of there. One time my dad and i went there and he was fishing for trout. he was reeling one in and about an 8 Lber and a 5 Lber come up and follow it to shore. One more spot b4 i forget is actually Clear lake at Dans landing. you can be reeling in a 12 inch trout, and a 10Lb bas comes and sucks up 1/2 of it!!! been there done that. when i went to release the trout, after i put it in the water, i noticed that it had some bite marks and was missing a lot of scales. well anyway, hope this helps!!!

- President Franklin D. Smallmouth
Ever since my first smallmouth, I have been increasing in size and in catches. They are my favorite to catch, not saying I don't like LM, but I think these are just funner. Nice bass in those pics husky.- President Franklin D. Smallmouth
Wow... 162... That must have been really fun!!! What lake or river were you at? ;D > :( 8-) :-? : :-[ :-X :-/ :-* :'(- President Franklin D. Smallmouth
I went to lake roosevelt last sunday and caught 8 smallmouth. My dad caught 5 so there was a total of 13. my best fish weighed in at 2 1/4 lbs. great fight!!! great fishing!!! caught them on real worms jigged on the bottom on a drop-off. It was awesome! Tight lines!! ;D- I think we should all do this.
Good luck ryan. Have fun.- Newbie Intro
WELCOME... I'm a newb to the site, but not to bass fishing- Dworshak Reservoir smallies
PLEASE answer my poll when you read this!!! ;D- Anybody From the Pacific Northwest?
eastern WA!!!- Smallie newbie
All i can really say would be plastic worms and yum salted soft plastic crayfish. worms i would say for colors: purple, pumkinseed, and black w/ a chartreuse curly tail. all worms should be 4 to 7 inches with a curly tail. Jig off bottom just like you would for LM. for crayfish: i would suggest natural colors. (brownish-gray on top with red to orange on the bottom), and also jig it very, VERY slowly on the bottom with a big jig head inside it. especially work it around docks. they are great around docks. other than that, the only other lure i've caught them on this year are 3" chartreuse curlytails. the thing is with those, most of the time i catch LM on them. infact my biggest LM so far was caught this year on one. I'm sort of new to bass fishing so my biggest LM is only 4 lbs. decent in my book though. Hope you catch somethin', BASSMASTER ;D- Dworshak Reservoir smallies
I have been wanting to do some smallie fishing and hear dworshak reservoir in idaho is really good. infact i just watched a video on youtube saying that they caught 40 bass, all smallies, and they were all over 4 lbs. They estimate that within the next 4 year, the world record smallie will be caught from there. if anyone has reports or info about dworshak reservoir smallie fishing, PLEASE notify me. Bassmaster3000 _________________ Remember to C&R!! ;D- What's your favorite spinnerbait brand?
i say that the strike king mini king spinnerbait is my favorite. i've caught a lot of fish on it, all 2lbs+, and i also caught my first bass on a spinnerbait on one. I say for best results, get a white one and put a chartruese curly tail on the hook to use with it. thats what i've had my best luck on. I also say that booyah is another good company. those are also made of really strong material so they done break bery easy. for color i say a plain yellow with a red eye and yellow colorado and willow blades. spinnerbaits are one of my favorite baits to use and i find them really nice to have in the tackle box. Tight lines!!! ;D _____________________________________________ remember to catch, photo, and release!!! - President Franklin D. Smallmouth
