  1. Hi dee tee, and welcome. In my expierence I have found advice is good but there is nothing in like practice when fishing. In other words, go every day.
  2. It might make researching easier if you stick with your local economy. You probably already know and understand it. Other locals will identify with that easier too. The post above that said stick with the facts and leave your personal opinion out of it will help in the long run. Good advice. Good luck.
  3. Six foot and two hundred pounds......My wife says that when they made me they threw away the mold, but I think it's starting to grow back. ;D
  4. And there was no problem with hook removal. You gotta love that.
  5. I thought it was funny.....I did miss Smoke though.
  6. what was the question? hes trying to find the respiration of fish. id check near the gills. its gotta be around there somewhere. let us know if you find it. Well, try as I might, after going back to reread the question, imagine my surprise when there was no question. I totally understand now why I am a newbie and you are a junior. I only wish I could have directed him to the gills. Oh well, I am here to learn. Thanks for the help.
  7. Is the lake "dead" every summer? I know this has just been a real bad summer for bass up here. Unlike any summer I can remember. Seems to picking up now though.
  8. All right guys, a big thanks to this thread. Many years ago someone gave me an old baitmaster that I grew frustated with very quickly. (half a dozen or so casts). Threw it away after it sat in my closet for a couple of years. Have been using spin casters every since. A few months ago I bought a cheap baitcaster (Shakespeare Axiom). I am on a low budget you see. Never could get the nerve to use it though, as past birdnests danced in my head every time I looked at it. After reading this thread and knowing I'm not the only one and picking up a few tips I drug it out today. I put an old crankbait with no hooks on it today and made sixty to seventu casts with backlash only twice and nothing major. Was able to cast about fifty feet. Nothing great but a good start I think. Wound not have messed with it had it not been for you guys. Thanks again. A few more days and I will put something lighter on it. I feel pretty good about today.
  9. I just seen the answer to your question a few weeks ago but try as I might I can't remember where. Keep looking though because I know it's out there.
  10. Very nice, Congrats......did I read somewhere the pond was a dead horse? If so I may have to go shoot a horse.
  11. You're right, the water is nice and clear. Has been most of the summer around here though. The summer fishing was drab here but seems like it may start popping. Hoping so anyway.
  12. I have such a hard time with baitcasters. I fish with spinning reels but I have a brand new baitcaster in my closet. I would love to learn how to use it without cutting out a birdnest for the first few months. I guess you could say I am afraid of it. It doesn't seem to come natural to me unfortunately.
  13. Small fish or not, it still sounds like a fun day. I went on Tuesday in the rain also and had a good day. Caught everything on a sinking minnow. Tried a shallow running crank but got nothing. Things are really gonna start popping now I hope after a kinda disappointing summer.
  14. Welcome to the forum! I'm new here myself but from what I've seen and read it's a real good place to be. Jump right in and get your feet wet.
  15. I went fishing this morning in a steady rain. After a long slow summer I caught six real nice fish. I have been smiling all day.
  16. Well, no I'm not all that sure, it could be my fillet knife they fear...LOL
  17. Hey fellow bassmasters. It's good to be here and I am looking forward to sharing some stories and experiences. I am from central Illinois, Litchfield to be exact. I like to fish ponds mostly. The main reason for that is I don't own a boat. I have been fishing bass for about eight years or so. I have caught some nice fish and had some not too good days. Hope to see y'all on the forum. Till then keep your line straight and watch the tangles.
