  1. I walked into Gander Mountain here in Huntsville today thinking I had seen all they had to offer for fishing gear. I was only half correct. They had 2 Chronarch 100B's for 189.99. I realize Tackletour had them for just a bit less but i missed out on that opportunity. I havent been able to find the B on e-bay for the last few days so when I saw them on sale i picked it up with a smile on my face. While I was at it I went ahead and picked up a Stradic 2500FI even though it wasnt on sale like the Chronarch. I was tired of bargain shopping and had to get it over with ;D . I couldn't wait to get home and pair them with my All Stars along with an older Curado B that Ive had for years. They aren't the lightest setups I have ever had but Im stoked to say the least. Road Warrior along with many others really helped out with some great advice and have taken the time to patiently answer many questions. Many thanks to all for the help
  2. Well for the second weekend in a row I found myself at the Bass Pro in Nashville looking primarily for rods. I wanted to be as technique specific as possible while covering as many areas as I could with 3 rods. For the price and the way that they held in my hand, I walked out All Stars. The TAS846C 7' MH/F, TAS845MC 7' M/XF, and TAS845STR 7' M/F. Im pairing them with a Chronarch, Curado, and Stradic respectively (soon to come off of ebay). Im looking for some personal oppinions and suggestions as to what techniques you would use these rods for. Id appreciate any help
  3. For as long as I can remember I have always fished shimano. Today with a more open mind, I have ventured to pick up a few others at bass pro. The sol, while not "value priced" at bass pro, can be found for much cheaper. However when compared side by side to the Stradic I was reminded again why I have always chosen Shimano. There just wasnt a comparison as the Stradic (to me) seemed far superior. I fondled a lot of the others mentioned...pfhlugers quantums daiwas and many more that were both more expensive and cheaper than the stradic. The stradic as my number one choice, I would then have to say that the saros would be my next. I can honestly say that I had an open mind as I tried to get a feel for them as best I could without actually boating any fish with them. But for value hunters like myself and most people out there, Ive got to know Im making the right choice the first time. For me, that starts with the stradic and saros and continues down the Shimano line.
  4. If I personally knew the person claiming that it was "lightly" used or had some way of confirming that as fact then I would definitely say the Core. Either way for that price you are coming out a winner 8-)
  5. Anyone know of any super deals on a Core? I want to stay with shimano but im leaning towards other names.
  6. If at the moment you are looking for one set up to get you over for a while then let me put in another vote for a medium heavy rod. However, as long as you fish smart and stay with the right line, you arent at any disadvantage whatsoever until you start to fish a little more seriously
  7. How would any of you compare the Zillion to the Chronarch? They are similarly priced on ebay.
  8. Hey guys. i made a huge mistake just the other day while I was at Gander Mountain and I picked up a Diawa Zillion. I could hardly put the thing down. Its a little more than I had originally planned to spend when I take my annual Christmas trip to Bass Pro which is fast approaching. If possible, give me some feedback on this reel and if you have heard of any sales that would be great too. I personally am planning on the faster of the two gear ratios to complement an older Curado I have. Having said that, Is there a particular rod (preferably all star or something similarly priced) that you would pair this with? I appreciate anything you might have to say.
  9. Im sorry but would someone tell me what TW is?
  10. The best deal I have been able ti find anywhere near me is 150 or so. Im not sure I like the E series any better than the last years D series. But if I can find one for as cheap as you did it might just seal the deal. Jake
  11. How does your E model compare to your D model?
  12. Theres two main reels that I have my eye on. The Revo STX and the Shimano Curado. I have no experience with Abu Garcia reels but shimano has always served me well. But for close to the same price (e bay) tell me your thoughts on the two. I appreciate the help. Jake
  13. Hey guys I am new to the forum. Wow there is a lot of great information here. Along with introducing myself I have a question as. Im in the market for some new rods. I am an All Star fan as they fit the bill with quality and a decent price tag. Basically Im going to get 3 new rods. 3 casting and one spinning. I live in the south and these 3 rods are going to have to cover me for a while. What would you suggest as far as length/action/tip. Like i said I live in the south and primarily I find myself fishing a texas rig, a jig, spennerbaits and top water. I appreciate any advice and look forward to being on here regularly in the future. Jake
