  1. i think they are wrong to call it a ''glue'' , cause it only mends plastics , doesn't work like any other glue. do you still have that ? if you do , i need the eyes for another bait taken from Mattlures website - This is Mend-it, the innovative product which actually "welds" soft plastic baits back together. You simply put a drop or two of Mend-It on the rip, tear, or hole in the worm, tube, swimbait or other soft bait and press it together. In a matter of seconds the bait is totally renewed, in most cases you cannot see where the tear was because the repair is so complete. Mend-It is not a glue, it actually catalyses the two pieces of plastic, effectively welding them together.
  2. obviously you have not used it , it is not a glue , it causes a chemical action to the plastisol that fuses it together ...
  3. Mudhole has a bunch of kits from $39 & up ... http://www.mudhole.com/kits-bundles/rod-building-kits/freshwater-kits
  4. my opinion is that if you're gonna spend $300+ , get a custom made ! going with a rod builder's " custom " like a LDC , you'll be buying his interpertation of a custom rod , get with mike at DVT and have him build you a full custom off the blank of your choosing , that way you can get all the components you want , handle length , guide choice , and grip set up . those white label rods would be alright if you use a right hand reel . if you use a left hand reel , the spiral wrap is in the wrong direction ... some good blank choices in the length you want would be the Phenix USB-800-H ( it's an 8 ' blank but you can have the builder cut an inch off the butt end if you need it 7'11'') also the Phenix USB-790-H , a 7'9'' blank , both will throw up to 8 oz. baits . both blanks sell for $160 so with components your looking around $200-$240 plus build cost for throwing big baits , custom rods are the way to go as handle length are a major factor in throwing big baits effectively without putting alot of stress on your wrists and shoulders . i like fast action rods for throwing swimbaits , not a moderate action or slow action, as i find you have better hook sets on long casts , let your coplolymer line provide shock resistince . anyhow good luck ...
  5. check out the Savage Gear 3d craw ...
  6. if you're still fishing the reel , just use the other paddle grip !
  7. there are people out there that will pay a $1000.00 for a 3:16 Real Deal that originally cost $179.95 .....
  8. looking forward to the new Savage Gear rat !! i'm thinking as soon as i get it i'm taking off the bottom hooks and eyelets , recess a neo magnet into the back and rig a ST-41 on top, gonna be a beast in slop and any matted vegatation !!!!!
  9. best hook for 10'' worms are Owner Oversize worm hooks . i use the 7/0 hooks , they are strong hooks with the super sharp cutting points and they have a wide gap hook area without it being too big like an EWG hook , suprisised no one mentioned them already cause once people use them on big worms , they have found the ultimate hook for them ....
  10. pick up an extra spool , braid is not a good choice for swimbaits .
  11. common practice with musky rods

  13. for the rod , get a Phenix USB-800H blank and have it built to your liking ( guides , handle length, reel seat , grip/handle material ,etc..) custom is the only way to go on a swimbait rod ....

  15. LDC uses the black diamond & black diamond hybrid blanks
  16. for me , I use Citristrip and a very fine (Gray) scotchbrite and take my time ..
  17. this is the best response in this thread !! customer service is one of the utmost things i consider before making a purchase when it comes to rods ( actually rod blanks ) that's why i only purchase Phenix and St.Croix rod blanks , they build their customer base by putting the consumer first and foremost even if they take a little loss on their profits .......
  18. try some Gamma co-poly , strongest line per diameter on the market , low stretch , and not too much memory . try some 17 lb. line , you'll love it ....
  19. your'e looking for the 2150 crazy crawler musky bait , there are plenty on Ebay , they are around 4.5'' ....
  20. a lot of people overlook the Tournament Lite , don't let the carbon frame fool you , Lew's made this reel very strong and it doesn't flex ..........
  21. your 200 size low profile baitcaster will work fine for baits that size , spool up some 15 lb. line co-poly and your'e good to go .....
  22. i agree with you also , it's usually the other way around , trying to get distance with a lure too light for the rod , that's when it's backlash time ....
  23. it comes to what hand you use to work the rod with . for me i use my right hand so naturally i use left hand retrieve reels ....
