  1. never used one , but d**n they are sexy looking !!!!!!!
  2. Is this the red one? there are two models , the ''code'' is black , and the other is called the ''code red'' , wich is , of course , red .
  3. braid is the best thing since sliced bread , youshould give it a try , try some 20# power pro , and you will never use mono again !! if your worried about visibility , use a 6-10 foot leader of flouro . as far as managability , braid is superior in every way to mono and flouro . just use a little caution casting in a strong wind with small (20# and under) dia. line .
  4. i know they don't sell the QUANTUM ENERGY PT or TOUR EDITION , but alot of other reels have alot of useful reviews on BASS PRO SHOPS website , look up different reels and then scroll down and read all the reviews , i always start with the lowest reviews first .... i hope this helped
  5. iwas also looking at the ''code'' reel , then i read all the reviews on BPS and changed my mind . im gonna go with the AbuGarcia REVO S reel , and if i come up with more money to put towards my reel purchases , ill get the Abu Garcia REVO STX reels . by everyone's reviews , you either get the ENERGY PT or the TOUR EDITION PT reel and spend alot , or get the Abu's i listed , for me , i think the Abu's are better for my type of fishing , and with 24 lbs. of drag , you can't go wrong .... :
  6. thats a good idea , i just like to have alot of line of the same weight (mostly braid) cause i usually just use long leaders that i do a uni-knot to my braid , but i want to start using different # test braids , so call me hard headed but i want the whole spool of the same line . i cast pretty far with swim baits so 50-60 yards aint gonna cut it . thanks for the advice , i love learning some thing new and will put it to use on my lighter line reels ..
  7. i also have that same bag , the big okeechobbie bag that holds 8 3700 trays and has alot of room in the side pockets for my plano 3449's and 3550's for all my hooks and weights (on one side ) my bug spray , digital scale , areator, and other stuff go in the other side , plus it has an eyeglass case on the front , and plier holders (2) . i got it from wal-mart for 45.00 , it is so worth it cause you get the 8 3700 size trays included , if you were to buy them seperately , as you know they go for 5-6 bucks each ! so essentually , you are buying the trays and gettng the bag free !!! one hell of a deal , they hold up very good , im not to gentle with my equipment ( just a little rough , not abusive ) i looked around and i think you can't beat this deal for this good of a bag . sorry to sound like a salesman , but this is one deal i got to pass along ..........
  8. robo 6.5'', 7'' straight tail worms , 7'' power worms , zoom trick worms , gulp floating worm , robo pitching craw twitched over the bottom ......
  9. im also wanting to get the nitro rods , i want the 7' 10'' XH,H,MH for use with swimbaits and all my other ways of fishing , they look very good and have very good reveiws . but if tackle warehouse gets the okuma's back in stock i might go with them since the nitro rods are no longer on sale , they are back to 169.99 . and for that price , i am also debating the POWELL max cast swimbait rods . i hope other people respond to your post , im very interested too ...
  10. what do you think of the KVD model , is it as good as the energy pt ???
  11. yeah , i agree with you , 20# and 30 # is the gold standard ,20# for if im drop shoting ,wacky rigging , or worm rigs, i uni a 6 ft. section of flouro and im set . 20# for crankbaits , 30# for my swimbaits ......
  12. i use natural colors that match best to the lakes bait forage in clear water . ill use brighter , unnatural colors ( chartruse , pink , orange , etc.. ) in stained water cause i think the bass can see it from farther away and hone in on it better , also if im not getting my bait into the strike zone of suspending bass ( i don't have a boat , much less electonics ) so i have to guess where the bass are out deep , yeah , i usually rent a boat . but i think colors are for specific types of fishing in different waters . i might be wrong by scientifical reasons but by going by my experiance , i don't think so ..
  13. the reason i want to know is for when i purchase line , some sell 125 , 150 , 175, 200, or more . i would like to be able to get the right amount of line with out over or under purchasing . if it's a high capacity reel , i use power pro braid most of the time , and if it can hold more than 150 or 300 yards of 10 lb. ( 2lb. mono eqv. ) i want to get a big spool or if not get a 300 yd. spool or only a 150 yd. spool . this comes into play also when im trying a new line brand or line # test , that way ill get the right capacity and i can continue to use it . thanks for the reply
  14. don't get the megaforce , they are cheaply made , will fall apart in less than a year ........
  15. i either want to get a powell , okuma , or a BPS nitro rod . any prefferences ???? btw, im looking to throw 2-8 oz. swimbaits but also drop shot alot and worm fish ( the need for the MED.HVY. rod) , so im looking for a'' XH '' rod , a ''HVY'' rod , and a MED.HVY rod . i want to have the same brand , to keep the same feel . i also want the split grip .......
  16. those rods look very nice , im thinking of getting the swimbait rods from powell, ( the XH, H, and the MED.H ).
  17. does anyone have a chart on reel capacity conversions , what i mean is , lets say i want to get a new reel that has a reccomended spool capacity of 12 lb. / 140 yds. , but i want to know how much 8 lb. test will fit on it , is there a conversion chart that some one has or know of , thanks , just joined the site ......
