  1. yeah , i got to say that bluegill are the hardest fighting freshwater fish known . i couldn't even imagine pulling in or fighting an 6-10# bluegill , you would be exhausted to say the least . 65-80# power pro braid would be mandatory .....
  2. i like the way you give feedback i like the full description , really makes me want to try it . there is nothing sweeter than violent top-water strikes on frog lures !!!!!
  3. if your on a limited budget , how about this http://www.***.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-DAHSCR.html
  4. sounds like solid customer service
  5. if you were to lob the baits , but not for casting them ! you need a ''heavy'' rod that has a rating to 3ozs. before you go launching hudds of 6'' or bigger . my opinion is that you'd be pushing your luck with even the mattlures ''crappie'' . get an Okuma swimbait rod in ''heavy'' that way if you want to throw bigger baits you'll be covered . i my self want to cover ALL my bases and am gonna get the Okuma ''xh'' ''H'', and the ''MH'' ( the okuma swimbait MH is rated 3/4-3oz. ) . what i do is research all my options BEFORE i buy something , that way i know i got the right thing for the purpose i intend it for . hope this helps
  6. Hmm i'm not going to lie to you i have no experience with swimbaits, but it seems to me 30lb braid is a little thin it may dig considering you will be casting heavy baits, for casting and flipping i go no less than 50 and like 65 second enless you will be fishing gin clear water imho it doesn't matter thats just me. Plus your bait will be moving unless you dead stick it you can even opt for a 30lb flouro leader which should be fine with a uni-uni yeah , i fish pretty clear water and the fish are highly pressured , the lake is pretty small compared to most lakes . i want to use a low-profile baitcaster , that's why i want an alternative to huge mono line and a soup can baitcaster . i think ill go with 30# power-pro for swimbaits under 3 ozs. and 40# for heavier swimbaits . but i think i will definetly try some 25# cxx for leaders , tied on my 30 and 40 # braid . yeah , i love the uni-uni knot for my line connections to each other.
  7. Unfortunately, it was a giant bug zapper ;D
  8. i wish all of the reel companies made all their reel's with a left-hand retreive along with the right-hand retreive . i wonder what the percentage is between right and left hand retreive users . any one know or any guesses ???
  9. is that why alot of people use ''can'' baitcasters , to hold more line cause the bigger mono's are so thick ? , what about power pro braid in 30# , or do you think the fish will shy from the swimbait cause of visibility issues with the braid ?? btw , yes , i'm soaking up all the info i can , i love it !!!
  10. that's good to know , you know how when you are hooked on a certain frog that produces well , that it's hard to change unless you have proof or good recommendations , well i'll take yours and try it . i've seen them on tv , was it shaw who was using them , i can't remember , but you know that that doesn't justify ones purchasing of said lure ....
  11. yeah , i feel they're just as strong as palomars , but i trust a palomar over a imp.cinch , i know the plomar is stronger but just never had the other fail , just wanted others experience .....
  12. check the other thread '' swim bait setup ???'' , seems alot of knowledgable people say to go with the OKUMA swimbait rods , that's what im gonna get . in my opinion , the rods your looking at would not hold up to swimbaits unless your throwing basstrix or moneyminnows , and those aren't even really swimbaits , at best , the medium heavy action rod your looking at would at best be a fog rod . give some examples of what swim baits your thinking of using ......
  13. sounds good then , i will definitely give it a try , thanks btw , is there one skirt or two ? or is there a center eyelet to attach the one skirt that's pictured , or do you clip it to one of the frog hooks ? thanks again .......
  14. does that line have alot of memory ? it just seemed wiry and stiff but my tackle store guy says to use it cause it has terrific strength for swim bait fishing . do you use it as a long leader tied to braid as your main line ? your feedback is appreciated btw , have you used ANDE mono for swimbait applications ??
  15. those look nice but do they make some wake , i can't see that colorado blade doing much on top of a mat , unless these are an open water lure . speaking of spro frogs , like i said , i love Canyon plastic 4.5'' frogs , well lately what ive been doing is when my canyon plastic frog's body gets torn up too much , i cut the legs off and pull the skirt out of the Spro and superglue the canyon plastic legs in , now thats a dynamite bass catching frog !!!!!!
  16. what kind of line are you using ????
  17. yeah i use the improved cinch for crankbaits , uni-knots for my flouro leaders , and palomar knots for everything else . i guess im just fortunate that i don't get knot failures with the improved cinch on my braid ......
  18. work for me is VERY slow right now , i do tile . so sometimes it's 3-5 days a week , but if i was to average it all up , cause of sometimes i can't get out of the house , maybe 2 days a week for sure , heck , im going tomorrow
  19. Its perfectly OK if you stay within the legal limits. However, most bass fisherman on this site practice catch and release. theres alot more tasty fish out there that you can buy thats already cleaned up for you. Exactly. my feelings exactly , funny tho , thats what i usually tell people that take fish home at the local lake i fish at , i tell them '' why are you taking that fish '' when they say '' to eat '' i say ''thats what the grocery store is for , stupid !!!!! '' any how , catch and release ....................
  20. Well, the fact that nearly every single bass fisherman who has fished for any length of time has been responsible for bass dieing. A fish may not have died in your hands or under your fillet knife, but the chances are darn near 100% that you've killed one. Gut hooked, gill hooked, hooked through the eye, broke off and the fish couldn't shake the lure, overstressed it, barotrauma, secondary infection from handling the fish, etc, etc, etc are all reasons why a fish can die after it swims away from you. Add to that the fact that fisheries management (biologists and the like) recognize the need for selective harvest in managing fisheries and you've also got one solid scientific reason why your opinion is incorrect. In summary, if your opinion were capable of being true, then there would be no true bass fishermen as that is the only way to guarantee that you have not killed nor will kill a bass.
  21. my local tackle store stocks alot of 3:16 lures , they have the frogs , but only in black and white , im waiting till they get the brown or green ones .........
  22. i don't know about that reel , i clicked the link and checked the reveiws and they aren't that good , i think the REVO S is a way better deal ..............
  23. well i guess they didn't fix it yet ( the red from bleeding ) . i know spiderwire has a red braid but i tried some of the green spiderwire stealth and the stuff broke off on two fish in the same day , needless to say that when i got home i stripped the line and threw it in the trash . i love power pro , but have thinking to get some of the spiderwire camo inthe 6 lb to put on my crappie poles . i know , kinda sounds like im a hipocrit cause i didn't like the 20# green spiderwire stealth that broke on me but am willing to give it another try , but the only reason i want to get it is cause thats the only braid i know of that comes in 6# ....
