  1. those things are way too small and for $15.00 , would never even think about getting me one , for that kinda cash i would rather buy numerous bags of rage tail toads and gambler toads !!!!!
  2. those are '' x-tools'' , i use those also , i fish with braid 95% of the time and am always cutting power pro with them . cuts nice and clean and can get in close to cut you tag end really close if you want btw , they float too !!!!!!
  3. i have never used them but the basstrixx ones look very good ( threadfin shad and hologram shad colors ) im very tempted to get some
  4. like FOURBIZZ said, use a jointed WAKE BAIT !!!!
  5. use a uni-to-uni knot , make sure you wet the knots good . i use this all the time cause i use power pro braid ( 30 lb. ) and join a 3-6 ft. leader of flouro for all my fishing ( cranks ,dropshots , topwater , jigs , shakeyhead , etc.... )
  6. i caught a 4 lb. rainbow on a rapala DT10 silver shad color http://www.***.com/descpageHARDRAPALA-RDT.html# thought is was a toad the way he was fighting , oh well , sure did taste good tho ;D it amazes me that a trout will hit a good size crankbait like that , i was using a 15 lb. flourocarbon line leader attached to 30 lb. power pro braid , but then be skittish around anything other than 2-4 lb. test line when im using powerbait or nightcrawlers and TRYING to catch trout :-?
  7. want to hear your thoughts on what line you use on your swimbaits . what i mean is what brands , lb. test (for what size swimbaits) , flouro ,mono, braid, let's hear them , please
  8. don't use split rings , get yourself some offshore angler ''duolocks'' snaps , size 3 , they are 40# rated and work fantastically well , i think T-RIG uses them also . i hate split rings , i like to even take the split-rings off of crankbaits too , i then use the size 1 rated at 20# . hope this helps .... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30043_151005009_151000000_151005000_151-5-9?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems#itemDetail
  9. my favorite frogs are canyon plastics (4.5'') , ragetail toad , and gambler's cane toad . i prefer soft plastics over hollow-bodied ones . some soft plastic frogs you can even use a double frog hook on (the gambler cane toad) . but i like using a 3/0-5/0 skipjack hook (gamakatsu) . the softplastics are alot more weed proof , you rig the frog texas style and slightly bury the hook point . good luck , i know i can't wait till the grass mats come back to the lakes i fish !!!!!!!
  10. i chose that they were ugly by mistake : i had the chronarch confused with the curado ( that green paint is hideous ) any way , the chronarch is pretty much like the Core , wich is very nice !!! just the fact that they have VERY limited line capacity makes me not willing to ever want one ....
  11. so is it to get deeper like a bill , or is it to move water or both ??? i just never seen a trout-bodied swimbait like that before , that ac plug doesn't use it for diving more as water displacement , right ?? The Ac's were orignally designed as a diving lure. Also, the Z-Plug is a straight diving/trolling lure and has a similar plug cut design. thanks , just thought it strange enough to ask about it
  12. so is it to get deeper like a bill , or is it to move water or both ??? i just never seen a trout-bodied swimbait like that before , that ac plug doesn't use it for diving more as water displacement , right ??
  13. does it seem as tho the lower jaw is a diving lip that has been intergrated into the baits body ???
  14. this struck me as a unique design , anyone try one ?? http://www.***.com/descpageVBSB-VBDT.html
  15. no they don't , tho they do have tru-tungsten swimbaits . go to tackle warehouse - http://www.***.com/swimbaits.html
  16. so do you think the power pro phantom red does or does not ''dissapear'' in water deeper than 3-5 ft. ?? or should i go back to moss green . i use 20,30, 50, and 65 lb. line , with either mono or flourocarbon leaders anywhere from 5-12 ft. , i use lipless crankbaits at around 15-25 ft. plus 14-20 ft. deep-diving crankbaits . do i need more leader length ?? is my braid gonna scare fish ? i fish in a pretty clear lake , lake dixon in san diego ,ca . the lake is highly pressured and there are BIG bass in this lake but was wondering if my line is limiting me by being very visible
  17. you think thats bad , BPS has a sale on KVD lure and line conditioner , get this --- it's a whole 5 cents off original price !!!!! here it is -http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_66168_100004000_100000000_100004000_100-4-0 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  18. you guys better take a look at ***'s new prices , for all of their ABU GARCIA's REVO series reels , THEY ARE NOW THE SAME AS BASS PRO SHOPS http://www.***.com/catpage-RLCABUGAR.html THIS SUCKS !!!!!!!! > btw , they are now stocking tru-tungsten swimbaits
  19. get some power pro and use a leader . i think that is the best combo for ALL fishing .... just use the right test braid and you will be happy forever btw , i use the phantom red (it is very visible above the water but disapears well in the water )
  20. yeah , gonna try the process on a cork board or something similar . i might even call up a company that colors cork ( flooring , furniture , etc. ) there has to be a ''RIGHT WAY'' to do this !! the all black Powell rod(s) will look sweet , and to top it off , an ABU GARCIA SX reel
  21. sounds like this is the way to go , i think i'll try some RIT dye , then seal it with that U-40 cork sealer from Cabelas . thank you guys for the info , hopefully someone who has actually done this will chime in also .........
  22. where would you get that ? , at a craft store ???
  23. i was wondering if you can dye the cork handle(s) on rods . i want to dye them black , but something that is permanent . i don't want it to ''bleed'' . so has anyone done this ??? btw , it's cause i want the whole rig black ( it's gonna be a Powell rod with a Abu SX reel )
  24. i hope everyone has a good holidays and an excellant new yeaer . as for myself , im getting tired of fishing for trout and can't wait to get back into full bore bass fishing !!! im hoping i get some $$$ and tackle warehouse gift cards so i can get some new rods and reels . anyhow , seasons greetings
  25. thank you for all the advice and new knots for me to try , much appreciated
