  1. rage tail toads (green pumkin/pearl belly , green pumkin/chartruse ,and green pumkin)and my favorite frog , the canyon plastics 4.5'' frog (in grasshopper color).if the weeds( grass) would stay all year , i'd probably fish frogs exclusively !!!
  2. never cared for them , with the addition of ribs , they make the worm too skinny , there for they rip too easy when you rig it even with a medium wire EWG hook . i tried the POWERBAIT ones but quickly went back to the regular powerworms ..
  3. i'm planning on getting a series 50 toro for my swimbait rod i'm getting made . iv'e checked them out at the tackle shops , and d**n !!! i can't imagine fishing with it . they feel very sturdy and seems they won't flex at all . so do you not like the curado 300 or in your opinion , are these much beefier and stronger ??? what is your thoughts between the two ???
  4. this frog is really a soft plastic frog but is does have a hollow body , the CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frog is the best frog ever !!!! i have recently been posting about the RAGE TAIL TOAD as being the top frog but the canyon plastics frog is a little heavier so you can cast alot farther , it has a pointy nose so that when you pause it , it wil sink and then you can twitch it like a fluke and get some super action !! you also can run it real slow cause it has slim legs that move good with not much speed . i used to use these years ago , i got them from a tackle store that has since went out of buissness , so when i went to a tackle shop that i haven't been to before i only grabbed three packs , and four packs of rage tail toads , needless to say i'm gonna keep two packs of rage tails but return the other two and get more ( all they have ) of the canyon plastics frogs . so long story short , if you love frog fishing like i do , give these a try , i swear you will LOVE THEM !!!!! 8-)here is the link for them - http://www.***.com/descpageFROGSCP-CPF.html
  5. nope , the ''johnny morris signature series'' bait cast real has the duralumin gears , i'm looking at the 2009 master catalog .
  6. any previews of the ''skeet reese rods'' ( pics of them)
  7. if you don't like them then fine , go get some thing else . i have a carrot stix and I LOVE IT !!! i plan on buying 2-3 more . i was at a tackle store the other night and was comparing other rods ( they stock G.LOOMIS, ST.CROIX, POWELL, DAIWA STEEZ , LUCKY CRAFT, AND KISTLER) and i thought the CARROT STIX felt better in my hand ,i liked the stiffness and tip action better than all the other rods . i guess it all comes down to either you love them or you don't .. but i must say -- these rods don't suck . if they did or might , thousands of people wouldn't be swearing by them ........ 8-)
  8. i like to be comfortable , i almost always wear cargo shorts for their many pockets . i most of the time wear a tank top or if it's chilly i wear a long sleeve t-shirt or if it's pretty cold out i'll put on a sweatshirt , but always the cargo shorts !!! ;D
  9. i don't see how you could not use a snap to the split ring , it is some times very hard to go directly to the eyelet on alot of crankbaits . i've never had a problem with attaching my snaps to split rings ...
  10. x2 , you would be suprised at how better your hook-ups are by using the OWNER over-sized worm hooks in 7/0 !! any time im using a ''worm'' 10'' or bigger i use them . they will catch dinks that bite tails no problem , i was catching fish smaller than 1 lb on a 10'' berkley power worm
  11. i guess you haven't really fished a frog to it's potential yet cause letting it sink in holes and open water between top water grass (mats) then twitch swimming it will get the toad hammered !!! so be a little diverse in your frog fishing , don't just run it on top , fish different depths and some times fish open water too . i've been fishing the toad at night in 5-7' deep , open water and just winding it slow with occasional twitches and getting hammered . well , hope this helps ....
  12. x2 , EXACTLY what BURLEY said !!!!!!
  13. yeah , i'm gonna have to use my screw in 1/8 or 3/16 bullet weights on the space monkey , i love to slowly reel them in at night ( that's what i do with the rage tail frogs ) and im sure to get hammered !!
  14. i too love and only use Power Pro , but if you are gonna use something else , use a SPECTRA braid . all those other materials just don't last . you will here of people having Power Pro braid on there reel for YEARS !! it just flat out performs when you need it and won't fall apart like other braids ....
  15. i like the space monkey but just wish it was beefed up , or the rage tail toads had the front legs on them , i like to swim them in open water . i just can't seem to cast them very far , probably cause i'm using 30# power pro.
  16. i think these things are too light and real flimsy , that's maybe why you can't get good hook sets with them , there is just not enough bulk to them . maybe try adding some weight to them would help :-?
  17. you don't even need a swimbait rod for those light lures , a decent flipping stick will do , for that matter , a regular heavy action rod would suffice . :
  18. the 7'6'' mojo is for light flipping and the 7'11' is for med - heavy flipping . i , my self would get the 7'11'' stick .
  19. i have two of them ,1 in ''foxy shad'', model btsm7, and 1 in ''switchback'' model btsd7 , these baits are awesome . they are very easy to switch from rattlin' to silent , and they suspend PEFECTLY !! these are by far the best Bomber lures i've used !!! btw, they even come with the teardrop style split rings ...
  20. i use my 7'XH CARROT STIX paired with a REVO SX 7.1:1 high speed reel with 30# power pro braid , i can pull ANY fish out of any slop. i used to use 50# power pro but found that a little overkill , now with the lighter line (30# vs 50#) i can get longer casts !!!
  21. any time im not working or with my son , im fishing . the last two weeks i've fished everyday except 1 . and yes they are FULL days !!! so yeah , fishing is my main ''hobby'' , actually my addiction !!! and it's a full time hobby
  22. i don't need a study to tell me that , i find that everytime i go fishing !!! ;D ;D ;D but yeah , most every lake around san diego is HAMMERED 7 days a week . the bass just mostly look at your lures and laugh !!! i guess they are conditioned after a while . :-[
  23. It must suck to look at Bass Fishing as business. I always said that if Fishing and golf ever became not fun for me anymore, i would quit. I dont see that EVER happening. I wonder if Roland Martin still finds it fun or a challange.Tiger Woods too,is golf even fun for him anymore? i really don't think he bass fishes anymore , he is always talking about red fishing and other saltwater fish . too bad , he was a master at bass fishing and hero to alot of people growing up . even when you watch his shows he seems not that enthuzed when he fishes :-/
  24. probably did it for the money , after all he is the greatest tournament fisher EVER ! i know alot of people will say ''but RICK CLUNN is '' but Roland straight dominated fishing during his career , he has so many sponsorship opprotunities that that's all it became , a buisness ......
  25. like any one will tell you , what are you planning to throw ???? my theory is , get the rod that you won't regret not getting cause it's not stout enough , cause if your gonna later on throw 5-6 oz baits , well , you need a heavier rated stick . that's why my rod i'm having built is rated 3-8 oz. baits . that way i'll be covered thru most baits .... hope this helps in your selection. btw, i would recommend the 7'11'' heavy 1-6 oz. rod by OKUMA .
