  1. im stubborn ;D , i always figure that if i have a full reel of the same line and i get a horrific wind knot and can't or don't want to spend the time to take it out , that if i just cut it off , i'll still have plenty of line left . so i really just choose to do it that way and am pretty sure im not gonna change . i just want to see if there is a conversion chart for the different line tests (lbs.) anyone , i think it would be beneficial to many besides myself .
  2. have you alot of success with also the space monkey and the shad ? i haven't got any yet , but they look very promising ! i love soft plastic topwaters . mostly i use Canyon plastics 4.5'' frogs , i think they are the best frogs ever , but it's time to try new products , and the rage tail series look good . any feed back on the space monkey and rage tail shad and the best technique would be VERY nice to hear !!!!
  3. in my original post , i said i wanted to know so i can get the right amount spool , example ; if i can load 180 yds , well i shouldn't get a 150 yd. spool , i should get the 300 yd. spool . do you follow my drift ? i was hoping some one has or knows of a line comparision chart that it would make it easier when deciding on spool size ..... You can also reverse your thinking. If you know it holds 180 yds and you have a 150 yd spool of say braid which is typical, then load the spool with 30 yards of mono with the equivalent diameter first. Add the braid on top and you'll be good to go. Anyway, when I use braid, that is what I do. I use to fully spool with braid until I realized that most of the line will never see use as Wayne P pointed out. By keeping a mono backing I ensure that all of the line gets used. You are also free to choose the percentages. 50/50, 40/60, 30/70 mono/braid. You can have more than 50 yds of braid on top. I do about 40/60 myself. i like to fill the spool up with braid and then at a later point , unspool it and re-tie the used end on first that way i have fresh on , kinda like a senko , when one end is too torn , you flip it around and use the other end !
  4. same here , i guess i got it from using my spinning rod with left-hand retrieve . i can right-hand retrieve on a bc also but im way more comfortable with the left-hand retrieve ....
  5. im going to be getting the okuma 7'11'' swimbait rods if tackle wharehouse re-stocks them soon . i plan on getting the XH, H, and MH rods . gonna put ABU GARCIA REVO S's on all three . and i think im also gonna get a powell medium heavy swimbait rod to use for light stuff like worms and drop shotting .
  6. i use roadrunner jigs with stubby butt grubs , kinami 1.5'' grubs , and plain old mr. twister 2'' curly tail grubs . i primarily use pearl white but once in a while use chartruse . the road runner i use in 1/16 oz. is for 0-6' of water and the 1/8 oz. for deeper . the roadrunners i use are white and chartruse .....
  7. it was at lake dixon in escondido , it weighed a little over 25 lbs. !!!! and unfortunatly it died over the memorial day weekend of natural causes .
  8. im from northern san diego , i fish mostly at lake dixon in escondido , ca. any one else around this area . alot of you have probably heard of lake dixon as it holds HUGE bass , the worlds biggest large mouth bass was caught here ( i know , some say foul hooked , but it wasn't ) it weighted 25 pounds 1 oz. !!!!! anyway , i love this lake , caught many fish from 1-5 lbs. , haven't caught a lunker YET , but i will , when i do ill tell ya all about it .........
  9. have you tried the stick shadd ???
  10. are there any bass clubs in northern san diego , i live in san marcos , CA. thanks ............
  11. looks as tho it was a sale to get them all gone cause i went to the site and don't even see a listing for the TOUR PT , oh well , that was a good deal !!!
  12. even if i did , uni-knots are so basic to tie , i wouldn't want one . sorry , don't mean to be rude at all , but for me uni's are as easy to tie as an improved cinch knot . if it helps u , im glad u like it .
  13. i just looked on cabelas web site and i don't even see a listing for the tour pt , am i missing something ?? did they sell them all and maybe take them off their listing . all i see is the cabo , code and some other one or two but no tour ? :-/
  14. how is that OKUMA rod ??? do you throw big swimbaits with it , give me some feed back on it please , im looking at getting the XH,H, and MED.H ...
  15. very true , it's just that most all of the tackle stores around my area only have 2 or 3 different # test of power pro , and most all of them don't have the power pro on the big spools behind the counter . everyone around here (tackle shops) push p-line , for me no thanks ! plus i always spool my own reels , thats why i want to be able to order the right spools . thank you very much for your feedback and suggestions
  16. is the christmas catalog on line or is it an actual catalog , as in where and how can i see it ???

  18. it seems as though when i do 5-7 turns , it's the braid that when butted up to the flouro , that it gets thicker rather than taper as u suggest . im gonna go check your theory out right now . ill come back and tell you what i find out . wel i went and tried it , the uni-knot was twice as long with the 7 wraps per line compared to my 3 wraps . so i think i will stick to my 3 wraps per side cause i think the strentgh is still the same and im eliminating more of a chance of wind knots in my line cause of the smaller knot that has to pass thru the guides :

  20. very , very well said !!! couldn't agree more
  21. i use a uni knot to tie directly to my 20 or 30 # test power pro braid , i don't bother with a swivel cause the braid eats all the line twist and it doesn't seem to bother it at all . as for twists on the uni , i only use 3 per line ( 3 for the braid , 3 for the flouro , then pull them tight ) i have had NO issues with knot slippage or breakage cause of this . i know you are supposed to use 5-7 twists per line in a uni but you get a thicker knot that sometimes catches on your guides during a cast and will cause wind knots .....
  22. i have to say dropshoting also . nose hooked for open water or minimal vegatation , texas-rigged wide gap worm hook for thicker vegatation and rip-rap .
  23. has anyone used the sebile lures other than the ''magic swimmer'' , like the ''stick shadd '', ''Acast'' , ''bonga minnow'', ''flat shadd'' . i checked out all the videos from ICAST by Patrick Sebile , they look awesome and was wondering how u guys that have fished them , like them..
