  1. or use a two gallon white bucket w/lid , hit up a donut shop , they usually sell buckets w/lid for a couple of bucks , then use wire .
  2. i prefer the bigger soft body swimbaits like Hudds & Savags Gear , never have thrown the 6'' Hudd , only the 8'' Hudd but can't wait to get the 10'' hudd . i also throw a soft tool Rago bait , a SBI herring bait (jointed) , and for other hard baits, i throw Natesbaits . i just can't bring myself to classify little paddletail baits as '' swimbaits '' ....
  3. looks to me like the same line up but just labeled them like St.Croix has done ......
  4. i also have a Tournament Lite , very lite and strong , and yes , the ACB braking system works flawlessly !!! gonna get another one soon !!!
  5. just my two cents - the BB1 PRO is the better choice - lighter , excellent braking system , and superior customer service .........
  6. knobs are easy to change out ! just about any Abu & diawa knobs will fit it, i have Revo EVA knobs on my Lew's reels ....
  7. it depends a lot on the lures he is thinking of using ..
  8. stick with TW their shipping is great !! i placed an order on black friday around 4 pm and received the stuff on monday (3 days later !!)
  9. alot of guys use 80 or 100 lb. braid for musky , 50 lb. braid for bass . i would think 65 lb. braid would be a good recomendation !
  10. hoping to pick up some 10'' Hudds !!! might be awhile till their in stock ...
  11. those are exactly like the Picasso Tungsten Weedless Ball Jig except the ball is tungsten and they are painted , they sell for $6.39 - $6.69 per 3 pack .
  12. i live in San Diego and lakes here are pretty low , your best bet is to fish deep water drop offs with jigs and plastics . for me , weighted wacky rig is the ticket !
  13. use a good co-polymer line , 20 lb. line will be plenty for baits up to 5 oz. braid is not a good choice for swimbaits unless the bait is a top water moving bait like a rat bait , 50 lb. braid minimum but preferably 65 lb. or 80 lb. braid is recommended . some good choices for line are Gamma co-poly , Izorline XXX , maxima ultra green , berkley big game , p-line CXX , & triple fish camo-escent . 17 lb. line - up to 2 oz. 20 lb. line - up to 5 oz. 25 lb. line - up to 8 oz. 30 lb. line up to 12 oz.
  14. i think they were a small shop and and they folded up , i was interested in buying a couple but they are hard to find in specific colors , they made them in 16 color patterns but searching the web you'll only find a couple out there . TW has the bluegill color and that seems pretty decent if the OP is still interested in getting one . EDIT -- just looked and they are gone from TW !! If you want a bait similar , check into the 6'' Hudd ........
  15. looks like an updated Tournament Pro with the added hook keeper and line dial thing . it should fish just like the previous Tournament Pro . the also went to the ACB braking which is a plus !!!
  16. go with a heavy powered rod with a fast action . i prefer a rod with a lot of backbone to snap set big jig hooks .
  17. check out GetBit for some discounted/discontinued blanks , you can find some for around $10 - $30 http://www.getbitoutdoors.com/specials/rainshadow-discontinued-blanks.html
  18. don't really know about a G2 , are you referring to the Tournament Pro G ???
  19. i spoke too soon , after using the FG knot today i had tied the other day , i went to tie it again and couldn't get the cinch down after 20 + times , gave up and tied an Albright , made a few casts and it's seems to pass through the size 4 AmTack micros , but i was using a 1/2 oz. test plug , we'll see how it goes with a weightless wacky rigged BizzBait stick bait ...
  20. never seen much talk about this line . i've been using it for awhile and it's my go to leader line in 10 & 12 lb. test . i used some Sunline Sniper for a month or two but didn't care for the stretch . wanted to try some Shooter but don't like the glare of clear flourocarbon line so tried some Metan Green as it was on discount at a tackle shop that was phasing out their tackle section and just sticking to their boat section . the line is a lot less stretchy than Sniper and is , in my opinion , a lot more abrasion resistant and more sensitive thanks to it's hardness . the green line disappears in clear water much less in stained water with no glare !! The line is more exspensive than most flourocarbons since for $25 you only get 109 yards but if you use it like i do for leaders , it will last you a while !!! i tie this to Sufix 832 low vis green in #30.
  21. on all my rods i use micro guides so ive been interested in trying a knot connection for a braid to flourocarbon that will pass . i tried the FG knot on my casting rod that has size 4 micros and the knot is holding up great and is not the hard to tie , actually after you practice a bit , i find it easier to cinch down than the albright ! the FG is really slim and passes through micros really well and is strong , so far it seems to be a winner !!!
  22. looks like a good deal !! thanks for sharing
