Big Bait Fishing

i used to fish 6'6'' and 7' rods but now that ive been using 7'10'' rods all that is gonna change !!! my next rod(s) i am gonna have GBLANKS build me are gonna be a 7'10'' MED. moderate action . and a 7'10'' MED. HEAVY fast action . i just can't see my self using rods under 7'6'' . the way they cast is a dream and hooksets are awesome ..........

you really should give their ENTICER SERIES FOOTBALL HEAD JIGS a try , by far the best value in jigs ....... 8-)

i guess what i mean by this post is that im getting frustrated cause i want to catch cats ( i caught a 7 lb. cat the other night and i know there are ALOT BIGGER cats in here , my friend caught a 16 lb. cat last week ) and for the most part im hooking into bass , now that's not a bad thing regularly but these guys are swallowing hooks and all . i have been using circle hooks , treble hooks , double circle hook rigs and the bass keep swallowing it . so what should i do . btw , im throwing this bait out far into the deepest part of this shallow lake ( it's deepest depth is only around 12-15 ft. deep ) :-/

these were caught at lake San Marcos , there is alot of forage for bass there as there are bluegills , crawdads , crappie , and either minnows or shad ( can't tell but see them busting the surface constantly , that's how i can tell where to cast for crappie !!) so anyhow , i think of bass being bottom feeders as strange ..........

went out fishing last night to catch some catfish and was using chunks of mackeral on a size 4 treble . well i caught about 4 cats but caught about 7 bass on this bait !!! i was throwing the mackeral weightless on the treble and was letting it sit on the bottom and then i started to catch nothing but bass and to make matters worse , the bass were swallowing the treble hook anyhow , has any of you had this situation before , seems funny that bass are scavaging the bottom and eating cut bait (mackeral) !!!!

BTW , thats a sick looking frog , a little expensive , but looks very good . i LOVE throwing frogs and have got my biggest fish on them and just might have to get some , thanks for sharing them !!!

i don't know where people got the notion that bass don't eat frogs , i have caught many that i have seen frog legs barely sticking out of their throat/stomach .. so i know they eat them , not just attack them ....

was wondering if anyone has got their sunglasses from ABU GARCIA/PURE FISHING in that rebate deal if you buy a REVO for over 159.00 . i sent my rebate form in the day before it expired (9/3) (it expired on 9/4) i have been waiting for a month and finally called PURE FISHING and they say they have none in stock and are waiting for WILEY-X to send them some more . so has any one got their WILEYS and if so , how long did it take ???....

i don't know about that , i have , a few times , caught the same fish in the same day , only hours between time . a couple times on the same lure !!! :-/

i don't wait for them to die , i will just start to fillet them !!!! i guess i have no longer the patience to wait for them to die

i cheat !! , i go to the pet store and buy feeder fish(little goldfish) for $.27 each and i usually get about 2 dozen wich comes out to around 6 bucks and change . they work awesome for crappie anyhow , out here in CA. , you can't use cast nets or anything similar to catch shiners or shad , wish we could . i hate to have to pay 9.00 for a dozen shiners !! the really only time i catch my own bait is when i go to the beach and fish off the pier to catch mackerel to use for catfishing ....

i don't belive in that ''strong hand'' to reel with stuff !! it is what ever hand you feel the best to work the rod with , you reel with the other hand . i'm right handed and work the rod with that same hand , so i wind with my left . i am just happy that reel manufactures are wisening up and making the equal amounts of baitcasters in both left/right retrieve . now maybe one day i might try a pflueger ! and thank you Shimano for making the CORE in a left hand retrieve !!

that was me the other night , i just kept fishing and my girl called me telling me am i ever gonna come home , it was 3:30 am !!! and i went out tonight , doing some crappie fishing and catfishing , yup got home about 20 minutes ago (1:40 am ) now im waiting for the crappies i caught to die so i can fillet them ........

jig fishing with crawdad imitators are a excellent choice for as bass eat craws at night for that's when they come out (crawdads) , also big topwater baits like the lunker punker in 6'' size .

OWNER hooks are alot better than anyother hook out there , if you want OWNERS best hook (treble hook) , get the ST-41's , they are the ones with the CUTTING POINT , the ST-36 's have the ''super needle point '' , both are fantastic but the ST-41's are the top of the line hook in trebles !!!!

talked with ABU GARCIA / PURE FISHING yesterday and they said the SX will be out this month or next ............

is it that you need a heavy action rod , cause i use one to fish DD22's and they don't stress me at all , welll , can't wait to try some of the 20+'s and 30+'s !!! so is there anyone that uses these lures regularly ??? and do they produce for you ???

i have called ABU GARCIA and asked if this reel ( the Orra sx ) is gonna replace the REVO SX and they said NO , that is just another model added to the REVO line up and that the new REVO SX will be premiered late this month or next month !!!

i guess you guys aren't up on the CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frog , you guys are surely missing out !!!! : i've used almost all of those frogs listed but they just don't compare to the canyon plastics !!!!

anyone fish these alot ? how do you like them and do they run as deep as they say ?? been using DD22's alot , love em , but want to run a little deeper ( actually alot ) so please let me know how they are , thanks ........
