welcome!! my daughter and son-in-law live in Dinwiddie.

finished watching 13 episodes, took me a few days to watch them. like you said not for the faint of heart but i liked them.

so many on my list would be hard to be just one that i would choose to fish with. so here goes, RW, Paul, Dwight Hottle,Fish Chris, Glenn,CJ, Mike Iaconelli, J Franco, Big O, A-Jay my mind has just overloaded to many to think of just about any member. would like to fish again with Jimzee, Pitchenkid, dick and Speedbead.

i check it about every day, we have had showers all day and only 55 deg. if it stops raining by tonight, friday might be fishable. i will post updates

a few more thats about all i got to take. next year i would like to see more bassresource members help out even if its a dollar it would help we could give more lifetime license out,better rod reel combos or more fish. THANKS GLENN for letting me post about the kids fishing day! now for a few days of rest and get some fishing in. we had over 220 kids i think the thunder, lightning and light rain early turned some back and they didn't come.

The boy in the blue shirt got big fish award look at the size of his fishing pole, the fish weighed 3lb 14oz there was some 5lbers but no one caught one

I was stationed where the hard top road ended and the gravel road began on the Boy Scout Camp (Camp Powhatan) 2.5 miles from the lake. i was there from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. giving out meal tickets and directions with a state police and a parks and recreations director. funny. thought it was funny those two giving out tickets that you didn't have to pay. my relief came at 9:30 so i went to the lake to help out. When i got to the lake i took a few pictures didn't get that many, i came upon the fish cleaning station with only 2 trying to clean all the fish. some of the kids had already caught the limit of 6 trout so i pitched in and thats where i had to stay the rest of the day untill they started giving out prizes. i missed most of the door prizes and big fish prizes. sorry NewAngler didn't get a picture of the kid that got the rod you sent (someone had a soft case that fit it perfect) was a great gift. the tackle we used in some of the empty tackle boxes- made great door prizes. Most of the kids caught 6 trout the ones that didn't was the ones that came late. everyone got to eat, play games and we had a lot of displays set up to look at. one of the kids that came late was a little girl they got there around 12:30 she hadn't caught a fish by the time they was giving out the door prizes so she kept on fishing her mother had her ticket while she tried to catch a fish, the last 2 tickets was for a life time fishing license her ticket was the last ticket they drawed out, her mother and a few other was trying to get her to come around the lake to get her prize, she couldn't hear what anyone was saying but started to reel in to come around the lake thats when she caught her only fish. she was so excited i saw her jumping with excitement about the fish she had just caught. she had her dad put it in a big bucket of water to bring it around the lake, they didn't know about the license untill they got to the mother. that was a great few minutes, fish and license minutes apart. I have a few pictures i'm going to try and post. i did get pictures of both kids getting life time license.

had a meeting today, looks like we are not going to have enough money, so we are cutting back on the trout and only going to stock 500 lbs. no blow up for the younger kids to play on, no t-shirts unless we get some last minute donations we have untill the 5th on the shirts.

got a $15.00 gift card from Food Lion, McDonalds give us some paper cups and paper napkins, Lowes gave us 160 bottles of water, Aarons will give us a printer for a door prize- water and 2 employees for the day, Bojangles gave an 8 pc chicken for a door prize. all the places i have visited will give a door prize or nothing at all , none will give money which we need the most right now. our next meeting is on the 20th we will know how we stand by then. wish us luck guys.

went to a meeting last night, we are getting plenty of give aways (door prizes) we even have a free fish mount going to the kid that catches the biggest trout. the biggest problem is still money we are half way to what we need. our next meeting will be the 20th if we don't get enough money we are going to cancel the t-shirts and blow up toys to play on. the food is getting close to being enough to feed all the kids. we are also getting plenty volunteer help. finally got to see what Newangler sent. Thanks Newangler everyone loved the bag of goodies and the rod&reel they kept passing it around looking at it and saying how nice it was. the $10.00 that you also sent will go a long ways! every dollar adds up. i hope by my next meeting i will see more bassresource members help out, if you do use your web name so i will know who sent it and put your real name and address with it they want to send out a thank you to everyone. the river is just 12 minutes away and i'm also retired, I'll fish from 10 am untill around 2 pm go home eat, rest go back fish from 5pm untill 7 pm go home wait untill dark fish from dark untill 2 am i do this 2 days in a row then i take a day off and only fish the morning trip but i might stay untill 3 pm then i might or might not fish at night that day. my wife will fish a lot with me but she won't go as much.

i love night fishing, i wade fish two or three times a week its a blast to have a smallmouth hit a jitterbug at night. what i've learned is there is less pressure and some of the bigger bass will bite at night.

recieved a report last night we are still far from our goal of the money and things we need. Bassresource members there is still time to help out. the number of members that have read the post if they could only send a few dollars each that would go a long ways. i'm still hoping that my bassresource family will help the kids out.

the smallmouth that i catch i have to play the fish, they are in swift water and i use #6 line. it takes a little while to get the fish in they will break water sever times, i have even caught the same fish the same day and thats after a long fight. i know i have caught the same fish several times during the year thay might be a mile from where i caught them before, so fighting the fish don't seem to hurt them unless they are hooked deep most of them will make it i very seldom hook one deep, i have even caught these fish again. one of the things i do is make sure the fish is ok and able to swim off on its own which they do quickly. when its hot it takes a few more minutes to make sure the fish is ok. i think fishing in swift water helps.

i fish clear fast running water using spinning reels, after roadwarrior kept recommending #6 Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft i tried it and now thats all i use on all my reels.
