Dumbest Or Most Silliest Things Said To You Or Heard While Fishing
Fishing at the jettie yesterday talking with some guy about peacocks, explaining to me how to catch them. I asked him a good spot as he was from Pompano, his reply............."I don't know, never caught one."

Bass Fishing Cuba
Actually Cuba has been open to tourism for a long time, just not from the US, my mother took a tour trip there out of Canada.

River Otter: Friend Or Foe?
They sure will, we have them here, gators can eat a lot of fish too. I get more pressure from the critters than I do other fishermen, lol. Otters are not this cute cuddly animal, they can be aggressive and dangerous. In South Florida you need to be aware of iguanas, they don't fish and 99% of the timer they are scared and jump in the water. Every once in while you come across one that's defiant, it ain't moving ! They can be real protective of their turf, and they got lots of teeth.

Hate These Pfluger Spinning Reels
As stated I bought a new supreme 30 instead of fixing my old one. Can't say I did the wrong the thing but I am a little disappointed. I have 2 other supremes 25 & 35 which are supreme, they work great. My new one comes, first problem was a line stacking problem, took care of that. The reel is not as smooth as the one I sent in, it's ok and I'm optimistic in time that it will get "broken in". I may have got a bad reel, buying on line you can't hand pick the reel, not knocking Pfluegers, still think a lot of bang for buck,.

Line
Getting my basic training in the 1950's I learned how to cast, set the hook and land fish with the equipment of the day. I guess my muscle memory and reaction has become part of my fishing "fiber", I have no problem with modern equipment, if anything there is a big improvement. I'm a braid and leader user, all purpose non technique specific spinning gear and I don't use different gear for different lure types, I just automatically react without thought. I don't favor one brand of braid over another. I've loaded up 2 reels 1 for fresh and 1 for salt with US Braid, this inexpensive braid is working really nice.

Casting Distance
I wouldn't use a UL where there is a lot of vegetation, just not enough backbone. I do use a 5' Ul quite a bit in open water ponds, I've got braid on my reel and it casts just fine.

What's Wrong With This?
For the record, I've always been a terrible speller.

The Fed did announce yesterday that they do plan on raising interest rates around the 3 rd quarter 2015, as Janet Yellen said a return to normalcy. The market did react favorably, most likely due having a bit more certainty about the future. The market is more about future expectations than the past. Steve Forbes had some opposing comments which I found to be compelling, keeping interest rates low promotes business growth, startups and job creation. Not being an analyst or any kind of expert I can only magpie what I listen to, some of the "oil experts" have the feeling that there is an attempt to make a bottom in oil. Personally I'm more interested in stability than the actual price, low and stable would be great.

No More Road Trips, Not For A While
Been doing just fine catching bass in my local area, did much better last week with the bigger fish but my rod is still bending. Every trip out of my local area has been a waste of time as it was yesterday. I head about 15 miles south for some peacocks and some snakehead fishing which I haven't done in about a year. Saw no peas and had 1 snakehead strike which I blew................total user error.
-
What Size Would You Choose?
Depends how well that particular rod will load up. 1/4 oz is a little light for many mh rods, but with the added trailer it should be ok. Just using a lure weighing 1/4 oz I'd probably be using a med rod.

Dumbest Or Most Silliest Things Said To You Or Heard While Fishing
How many times have I heard this one. Going into a local bait or tackle shop, I always hear "you should have been here yesterday, they were jumpin in the boat".

I'm not much into card sending either. We don't celebrate Xmas but I do enjoy this time of year. Today is the first day of Hanukah, each year we have our entire Florida family over for brunch, as we will this coming up Sunday. Next week my best friend from Michigan and his family will be here. Each year on Xmas eve we meet at the same restaurant, looking forward to it.

Step Children
Being with a woman that has kids is a package deal, if the problem is too much then maybe looking around for a more ideal relationship may be best. Everyone has their own idea of discipline, I'm pretty much in favor for the natural parents to administer it. I have 2 step daughters, got them as teenagers. The younger one was wild and ran around with an undesirable crowd, one day she come home with green hair on one side and the other shaved bald, lol. We had her in drug rehap, didn't do much good. Sent her out to California to work for her uncle, she found herself. Went to AA and met a young man and they got married. Moved back to his home town in Indiana, both finished school and became attorneys, she is a stay at home mom now and has published 3 books on child adoption. I could not have a better step child, she turned out quite well.

The Road To The Super Bowl

Airlines are flying more passengers with less flights using less fuel, their profits have been rising before the drop in oil. Now even more profit. Within the last couple of days there was an interview on CNBC with an airline CEO, saying there was no plan to drop fuel surcharges and baggage fees. During that same interview Phil LeBeau claimed the profits are being derived due to fees, not the drop in oil. Yeah it is all smoke and mirrors. Back when I was in business I shipped by common carrier, fuel went up and there was surcharge. Fuel came down but the fuel charge remained. A gas station back in the last century- Ever Run Into This Type?
This is one reason I don't often fish with people, tempers flair and I don't want to be around some hot head. For the most part I agree with Stratos. I'd just as soon go find another place, a fish is not worth a confrontation.- What Is Your Setup.
I'm in South Florida too, I match my gear to the water I'm fishing. Being strictly a spinner user I use L & ML for ponds 10# braid, Med spinning 7' for canals with 15# braid. I don't give much thought to the lure type.- Would You Buy This Reel?
Not only would I have bought it, I would have bought a new rod for it too. Can't go wrong, it has a warranty.- Urban Amazon
They are as far north as Lake Clark, which is at Forest Hill in W.P.B, not a prime area like Miami. I managed with a lot of effort to catch one at Lake Ida yesterday, all the way in the back by the canal. I used a rapala flat rap, chrome and yellow.- $1.99
The Keystone pipeline already exists, the program is to extend it to Houston. The expansion creates 42,000 jobs for 2 years, when fully operational it will take only 50 people to run it. This is not American oil but Canadian oil that gets sold on the world market, we buy more oil from Canada than from any other country. One positive is the chance of less railroad tanker spills, which already has taken lives. Oil prices are coming down not from extracting oil from sand tar or shale, it's from countries like Saudi Arabia that can pull it out of the ground cheaper. The price will come back up when it gets unprofitable for some companies to complete, reduced supply will increase the price. Oil is vital to the Saudis, their economists are educated at Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard, they ain't stupid, they know exactly what they are doing. For the short term this a boon to us consumers and the economy. Down the road we may see a change in Fed. monetary policy, increased interest rates, world currency markets. This issue is highly complex, more than just the pump price and way too much for me to comprehend the entire picture. I'll be filling up today at $2.50.- $1.99
Heard an analyst on CNBC this morning, his number was 50 then upward to maybe $75, Mark Mobius thinks 90. At $65 they are already losing money. Even though the Saudis drill at $27, according to the above site, they have enjoyed very large profits in the past, I don't think they really want to give that up for too long. After Friday's Wall Street carnage of -315, we are down again today. With the futures at over a 100 points before market open losses may be trimmed some at close, not optimistic but hopeful. There was a buy rating on some energy stocks this morning, Exxon for one.- The Road To The Super Bowl
Longest playoff drought maybe, but 4 trips to the the Super Bowl in a row and quite a few AFC championships. The Lions have never been to the SB, last championship was 1957 a drought I want to see ended.- The Other Brown Fish
Nice looking fish. The kastmaster has been my go to spoon this year, been a great producer for snook, jacks, cuda, runners, mackerel, just about any thing.- What Is The Best Braid?
Recently spooled up with US braid, 20# for my cuda outfit and 10# for a bass set up. The line performs equal to any other line I have used. - $1.99
