Krocodile Spoons
Krocs catch bass along with anything else that swims. Quite a few different styled spoons but the common factor with each one is that they all catch fish. Hardly a day goes by that I don't throw a spoon for some species, not uncommon here to use a spoon in the middle of the night with a new moon, and still catch fish. If I were to pick 1 spoon for bass it would be a Redfish key spoon, gold hammered. In reference to the bluefish comment I personally would be changing to a single 2/0 or 4/0 hook, IMO a better hook up and much easier hook removal.

Your Favorite Website To But Lures
Most of my fill in items come from Walmart and DSG. I do buy from Outlet when Krocs are 1.99, nice deals on metal jigs and I've gotten $10 lures for 2 or 3 bucks, my sizes are not always available. I like DOA jerk shads, order them direct from DOA and BPS hot lips jigs. Much of my fly tieing comes from Ole Florida Fly shop, here in Boca , they send out free shipping.

Ugly Stik
If it's one rod I see used every day it's an ugly stick both new models as well ones 20 years old. They cast exceptionally well and I've seen some good sized fished landed on them. Penn and Ugly Stick, rule the roost down here.

Who Else Loves Rock'n'roll!
I liked disco music, Bee Gee's and soundtrack from Saturday Night Fever. I keep Dr.Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and Kid Creole on flash drive to play in my car.

Hard Baits Or Soft Plastic
Weedless flukes if I can't fish a lure with exposed hooks, do not like to fish jigs with trailers or worms.

Painting Lead Weights
Only thing I paint is a leadhead when I make my marabou and bucktail jigs, I use nail polish from the dollar store. I would think magic marker would work fine too.

Good Rod Vs "great" Rod?
My last attempt at buying a custom rod was a few months ago. My good buddy has 75 custom made up from a reputable builder in South Florida. I had the good fortune of being able to use his latest one that he uses the exact reel I have that I wanted a new rod for, so I wasn't buying blind. It is a very nice rod, so I call the rod builder to get a quote for the identical rod, not being a personal friend and paying $125 my price was about $250 plus 2 months to make it up. Normally it's not quite that long but the builder had just been at a boat show and was swamped with business. I went a different route and couldn't be happier, bought a rod just as light, casts just as far and handles fish no different than the custom. I'm enjoying the saved money as well as the lifetime warranty. No knock against going custom, other than cosmetics there really is no advantage for me.

Rod Length And Action
Most times when I'm "working" a lure I'm doing it with wrist and forearm movements, the reel just takes in the slack. IMO if one is concerned about gear ratio then the movements are too fast, bass love to hit topwater when the lure is "at rest". I use any where from a 6'6 rod to an 8' rod to work top water baits. The longer rod does take some time getting used to and could lead to fatigue and soreness at first.

Ever Had A Day
Bass can be caught any time, doesn't mean they want to be caught. Any species of fish will instinctively feed when bait is readily available, when the baitfish get active fish turn on.

How Do You Find Fish On A Lake Without A Fishfinder
I've never used electronics for bass fishing even when I fished Lake St Clair. I learned to fish drop offs and watch bird activity. Fishing on smaller bodies of water now I'm able to see more fish activity then on bigger water, I do some sight casting.

General Fishing Trip Tips, Not Tactics Or Techniques.
Having several wilderness trips under my belt in remote areas of Ontario, IMO fire is the #1 thing to have with you. 2 or 3 people in canoe with tent and sleeping bags does not leave much room for a lot of equipment. Several disposable lighters each one kept in a different water proof container and stored in different locations. Basic cooking utensils and a pot to make your water potable. Setting up camp is priority #1, dig your latrine a good distance from your campsite. I'd have a map of the area and a compass, first aid kit and 1 meal per day of freeze dried food. Don't go during black fly season, I learned that one the hard way.

South Florida, Matheson Hammock Park
I do a good 75% of my inshore fishing with 3 lures, bucktail jigs, spoons, and jerks shad on a jig head. Sure I use other lures for my own variety but they do not catch any more fish. For pure excitement there is nothing like a top water hit from a sizable fish. You do not need big baits for big fish, most of my tarpon are caught on 1/2 oz bucktails and jerk shads.

In Your Opinion, Part 2
Just like the receiver thread the answer is subjective. A great QB wins super bowls and super bowls are seldom won without having a complete team, defense as well as offense. Montana.............4 Bradshaw ..........4 Aikman...............3 Brady.................3 Young................3 Best without a SB win, Marino. Best off the bench, Earl Morall 13 wins to cap off a perfect season.

Inline Spinners
In line spinners are one of my go to peackock bass lures. Recently on a fresh re spool with braid I tied line to leader, didn't take long for the wind knots because of excess twist. Going back to a BB swivel, not a perfect remedy but IMO better performance.

Best Cross Over Rod For All Types Of Baits
My heaviest bass rod is a 7' med spinning fairly standard fast tip, used for all lure types.

What Lure And Presentation Has Been Hot For You This Summer?
Up until 2 weeks ago it was peacocks and I used marabou jigs about 90% of the time. I'm only doing pond fishing for bass now (canals are infested with insects), only using a top water popper. Fish have been busting bait like crazy, fishing the boil only produced tiny bass. My tact has been to cast about 100 yds away from the boil which has resulted bigger fish but fewer of them.

Who Else Loves Rock'n'roll!
To say I knew some of these people personally would be a huge stretch of the truth. Many of the Motown celebs lived in my neighborhood including Berry Gordy, seeing them outside or shopping wasn't out of the ordinary. Some of us used to hang out at a drive in, now and then Marvin Gaye and David Ruffin (Temptations) came by, we all cruised on our bikes with them.

Who Else Loves Rock'n'roll!
Both Elvis and Roy Orbison came from what was called Rock- a- Billy at first if I'm not mistaken, great music. Do *** was the 4runner to Franky Valli and the 4 Seasons. Being a Motown man I'm not so sure I would call it Rock N Roll but whatever really good stuff. Was listening to Marvin Gaye " What's Goin On" album in the car this morning.

Live Bait
I have fished nearly 700 days in the last 2 years, the majority of those days has been some sort of saltwater fishing in the mornings and freshwater in the PM's. I have used live bait maybe 4 times, none for any freshwater and once for inshore species.

Survival Lures
Thinking about the topic, Survival Lures. If I planned on having 3 lures with me I'd have a rod too, that isn't survival it's a fishing trip or outing with limited gear. Survival, I'd like a spear so I can defend myself as well hunt and fish.

What Do I Need For Bluefish
Fishing for bluefish off a boat is different than catching them from shore, I believe the equipment should be suitable for the water depth. Fishing in close proximity to the shore line I'd opt for a mh, offshore I'd be using 30# class rod, 6000 reel with 30# braid, wire leader is no problem. Bluefish hit anything, I have had small strain Florida bluefish bite lures in half, up there the blues are much bigger. My lure preference would be a diamond jig with a single hook, it can be casted or deepwater vertical jigged tipped with squid. Bluefish give a real nice fight.

Front Line Fights
I'm a braid user I like the way the line manages on spinning gear, plus being able to load up the reel with more line. What I don't like about braid is the strength issue, IMO much stronger than it needs to be. If a company is selling me 20# line that breaks at 30#, just call it 30 pound line because that's what it is.

How Do You Cleanly Trim Tackle Box Compartment Dividers?
Scissors and glue the sections where I keep various different types of sinkers. The other dividers stay in place with the need to glue.

How Does One "burn" A Lure?
Be my take. I catch way more bass on the pause then on a very fast retrieve, I seldom burn a lure while bass fishing. There are species where it's impossible to reel faster than the fish attack, the faster the retrieve the more they are attracted to it.
