  1. I believe there was a post on this a little while ago. It should be killer for spawning bass. I haven't personally used one but it I think a matt lures u2 bluegill jigged off the bottom would be just as effective and much more versatile. It seems like a great idea but it limits the bluegill to a jig only.
  2. Thanks we have lots of lily pads down here I might order a frog and let you all know how it goes.
  3. Nice! What kind of cover where you fishing?
  4. I paid more than that for my 15ft skiff. It looks great to me I would go for it.
  5. I catch some on the fly but mostly small ones. I went out for about a half hour today threw a bisty minnow crankbait I caught 1 nice one and 5 smaller bluegill.
  6. I have been tearing them up on the spro popping frog (just had to get a new because they tore up the old one) but it doesn't move slop very well and I was looking for something new. I thought I saw a guy put those legs on a koppers. for 10 buck I may just try it and tell you guys how they work.

  8. well for my uses I didn't think the extra money for a color screen was worth it I have read grey sonars before with no problem so I thought I would save a little money.

  10. WOW that is some great info thanks! I will be trying some of these techniques today and tomorrow ill let you all know how it goes.
  11. What are you favorite ways for catching big bluegill? I know we have some monster in the river I fish but I really don't know how to go about locating or catching these fish. So where would be the top places to look for these fish?
  12. Anybody have a Humminbird® Fishfinder 570 DI Sonar Fishfinder? I am looking at using it in average 30ft of water or shallower looking for any small chunks of bottom structure. I have never had any kind of electronics on my boat before so I really have no idea what I am looking at. If you have any better options my budget is $400 or less.
  13. these are sweet! have you ever thought about selling some? I bet they would be killer for crappie
  14. Won't be long now and he will be out fishing you!
  15. thanks guys. No clue on water temps but it has been in the high 80s and 90s here so I would guess water temp is pretty high. I am going in with spawn/post spawn in mind. Bluebasser is there a reason for thee square bill over a regular style bait?
  16. x2 every tank. I never added any until I had to spend $400 in repairs because of ethanol.
  17. I am heading to Apac lake Friday and I am looking for some help on lure selection. The 300 acre lake averages 8ft and goes to about 20 i would guess there is tons of flooded timber (which is not my strong point) with some spare vegetation the water clarity is stained to murky. What are some must have baits/techniques? thanks guys
  18. YA I read that they are really soft plastic. Also from the ones I have seen I really like the colors
  19. Are the RI Swamp Donkeys no longer made? I am also looking for 1 or 2 of them
  20. Has anyone ever used JJ's to change the belly color on hollow body frogs (kopper and paychecks)?
  21. Kowen117 replied to rboat's topic in Fishing Tackle
anybody ever thought of puting spike-it or jjs on the belly to change the color
  22. Nice gills I bet those made quite a meal! bluegill have so many different colors and sizes we haven't even scratched the surface yet.
  23. nice! looks pretty small what are the specs?
  24. A swimbait would be a great option too. Just match the hatch and youll be good to go. Tru tungsten has some 5 inch swimbaits on sale a B.T.D for only 9 dollars and free shipping on order over $50. Also if you don't mind me asking what branch of military were you in? And I would just like to thank you for your service to our country.
  25. It depends on what the main type of prey is in your area. Imo a fluke type bait is one of the most versatile and most useful baits there is. you should also pick up some crankbaits/jigs too. It really just depends on what the depth, water color, and cover is and based on that you can throw different types of baits
