  1. I am planing a trip to Kentucky lake come March; however I have never been here before. I will be fishing the southern Tennessee half near Paris, TN. So here is my problem, I have never fished any lake this big and I have no idea where to start. What things should I look for this time of year? Are the bass going to be spawning? What is the main forge bass are going to be feeding on? Any info I can get will be helpful as I am only going to have 4-5 days to fish. Thanks
  2. You will have to turn the head around on the new trolling motor otherwise to go forward the tiller will be point straight out from the boat
  3. 1. 3/16 shakey head with a 6" zoom trick worm 2. Fluke texas rigged weightless 3. Spro Poppin Frog I have also really been working on flipping jigs and soft plastics as this is one of my weakest techniques.
  4. What kind of price point are we looking at?
  5. Finally I have been waiting for this for a long time
  6. No I am mixing my gas. I tried flipping the red lever like you said but it didnt help it almost seems like it is getting to much gas and flooding and on top of that the starter went out today it spins but it wont engage the flywheel
  7. Drained the gas tanks and replaced the fuel filter put new gas in with some cleaner and it started up pretty easily. I will let you know how it runs over the next couple days. but I think I just need to clean the fuel lines.
  8. Thanks I am holding the choke in and turning the key
  9. Thanks I will try running a can of seafoam through it. What are your thoughts on this motor? It is a little older but it looks pretty nice. http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/boa/2465542463.html
  10. Thanks Would running a can of cleaner like seafoam help any?
  11. I do not owe anything on the boat and I am not planning on selling anytime soon. I want this boat to last me for the next ten years so I dont mind putting a little bit of money into it. Assuming I can get $2500 for my motor now I would be willing to spend 5000-5500 but would like to keep it in the $4500 range. A buddy of mine just got a 2006 Suzuki 4 stroke 140Hp for $4000
  12. Also what kind of speed am I gonna gain from a 200? my boat runs 55-60mph right now and thats really fast for me.
  13. Actually I just had it serviced it helped a lot but it is still hard to start. I am definitely gonna get a used motor maybe 2005-2006. Does every one here agree on the mercury optimax?
  14. I have a Johnson GT 175 and it runs good... when it starts. If I dont go and start the motor everyday it is horrible to start it will take me and hour sometimes just to get it started but after that it will start good all day. Is this just because it is a bigger motor? I was in my buddy's boat this week and he has a 2006 Suzuki 4 stroke with hydrolic steering and I loved it so my question is: Is it worth selling my outboard and buying a newer outboard? If so what are your recommendation for an outboard (preferably 4 stroke)? It will be going on a 19ft Stratos rated for a 200hp
  15. I just got back from fish a two day inshore tournament. Fishing was slow but we managed to land two keeper trout and two flounder. we took first place in our division and biggest flounder (20 inches and 4Lbs.) I know this wasn't a bass tournament but it was my first competitive fishing trip so I thought I would share our win with all of you. Team Drag-N-Bait
  16. Thanks guys. What I called big fish arnt huge inshore snook and redfish but I recently had a 40lb gar spool 175-200 yards of braid like I was using a ultra light reel. So I am stepping up my gear the ci4 looks nice. How much of a weight gain am I looking at if I go up to a 5000 series
  17. I am in the market for a new spinning reel for my 7'mh carrot stix. My budget is $200 but I would be willing to spend a little more if I really like the reel. Here are my main needs for the reel: 1. Durability as the reel will be used in fresh and saltwater 2. Drag I fish very heavy cover and I cant have my drag slipping on me so a heavy drag is a must. 3. weight it is going on a carrot stix so it needs to be as light as possible 4. it needs to have decent line capacity to let any big saltwater fish run without spooling me. Thanks I look forward to your suggestions.
  18. X2 about Diawa and I would also like to see some budget XH rods for Punching something with some real backbone that wont break the bank. P.S Why would any reel companies make reels with the handles on the wrong side?
  19. I had a 15 ft skiff before this (gave it to my cousin. The transom and hull is in great shape, the trailer is pretty nice and we are have the motor's carbs cleaned and a new water pump and water deflectors on it. This is the first boat I will be able to trailer to different lakes or even saltwater occasionally so I am pretty excited.
  20. Us Florida boys never like losing hooks:).... Plus it is just a large lizard to me. it's part of everyday life
  21. It isn't new but it is to me! I got a 1989 stratos 289v with a 175 Johnson GT on it. it needs a little work but she should be water ready by the end of next week. It took 4 hours total trip to get but i think it was worth it. He was asking $4000 I got it for $2500. What do you guys think? Was it worth $2500?
  22. NICE! I have many stories similar to that... unfortunately they usually involve a bigger gator
  23. x2 good job. I am so rough on my stuff I don't even think about resale

Got out on the water about 6:30am we had never been to this lake before but had seen some big bass there so we thought we would try it out. Well we fished for 2 hours with even a bite so we loaded up the boat and hit a second lake. I hadn't fished this lake in about 3 years so I was anxious to get out on the water. the wind was blowing pretty hard so went across the lake and drifted down the bank along the egg of a grass flat and we managed to get on keeper in the first hour then things slowed down a bit and the wind really picked so we motor of to the calm side of the lake were we got on a good shakey head pattern on our last drift and caught 8 more. all and all it was a tough day but we finished up with 13 bass 9 of those were keepers.
  25. SO it is still a solid bait just like wood? I always thought that pvc bait were hollow.
