  1. Cold weather killed every tilapia in my river last year just seen the first one show up again about week ago.
  2. 5 1/2 inch fluke almost like the zooms. I am just trying to figure out how much plastic/coloring and softner/hardener to buy. Also is this a one or two piece mold lurecraft isnt very clear http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/molds/plastic-molds/fluke-type/5x425:933
  3. I have had no problems with either of my carrot stixs in fact I love them they are now the only rods I use. I had a friend stick one in the ceiling fan and break it and bass pro shops replaced it no hassle took maybe 5 minutes.
  4. looking for some soft plastic molds so i can start pouring my own bait. anyone know of a good fluke type mold? also how many baits will a pint of plastic pour?
  5. I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the line is still strong and casts fine I wouldn't about color.
  6. Using bps or lazer sharp hooks. However I switched to owner and they seem to be a lot sharper. What is tex-posed I have heard the term before but I am not familiar with rigging it that way
  7. texas rigged. I recently switched to strike king coffee shad and they are softer than zoom flukes. In part it has been operator error not waiting that extra second, however I think that my poor quality hooks arnt penetrating the soft plastic and the plastic is just flexing instead of letting the hook penetrate it.
  8. What?!! Its is NEVER operator error! : I know at least three were bass the other good have possibly been gar
  9. Yeah I am switching to owners or tro-kar tomorrow and see if that helps. Anyone tried tro-kar yet? Are they worth the money or should I get owner hooks?
  10. Hey so the bass fishing has really picked up i found good finesse pattern latey that has been killer except I have had a horrible hook up ratio :'(. yesterday was 1 hookup and 5 misses :-/. Anyway my question is how do you guys increase hook up ratio on weedless baits? (flukes, shaky head etc.) thanks
  11. Well I went fishing yesterday and thought that i would put down the bass rod and do a little panfishing on the fly. Well I was using a 4wt fly rod with a little spider on when a 2lb+ bass came up and ate my spider! I knew the bass were really eating some smaller baits but come on.
  12. It depends on how you use it. I know a couple guys having good success with them right now on my lake because the fish have really slowed down and the subtle action a Carolina rig can have has been deadly. I just added this technique to my arsenal last summer so i haven't quite perfected it yet
  13. I use Carolina rigs when fish are deep but still suspended a few feet off the bottom. A Carolina rig will get the bait down but keep it 1-3 foot off the bottom. I like to use baits that float and them slowly drag it across back to the boat. keep in mind though Carolina rigs aren't always fished in deep water. Hope this helps.
  14. Thanks guys. I got to fish for about an hour today with some shaky worms and didn't do horrible I caught one and missed two. I still haven't gotten used to this light tackle. I also got some scrounger heads and small flukes i will try this weekend if I have any success I will let you know.
  15. what are your favorite finesse bait for shallow water? the fish have really gotten picky and are eating really small baits which isn't my strong point so any advice would be appreciated
  16. Thanks for all your help I just got the money and I'm ordering tonight but what about this as a rod dryer? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360292152958&rvr_id=129324651175&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=%3F*F%3F&GUID=aa31c37d1290a0645c70e440ff680928&itemid=360292152958&ff4=263602_263622
  17. Any know where I can find a carrot stix fly rod?

Thanks guys. And believe me I WILL be going back there soon. I think I know what my next game plan will be; I am going to use my longer, heavier rod and I have bent the hooks slightly out on the frog for better hook ups. Also I am going to stand on my poling platform when ever possible so I can get high above the water and get the fish up and out of the weeds quickly.
  19. The popper is nice but if you are trying to really move some slop try the mad maxx frogs Or the spro big daddy ( although I have no use with the big daddy)
  20. X100 Just got the spro and have already caught and missed big fish on it

Well I was this close again to landing my first double digit bass! I was fishing some heavy lily pads and some duck weed, I went into this little cut and cast my brand new spro popper frog into the twitched it twice and she SLAMED it! The hit startled me some but seeing that huge whole where my little frog was ( about 3ft across) I set the hook as hard as I possibly could, I had the fish on for about 5-6 seconds when I made the one huge mistake in trying to reel in the fish quickly to get him out of the cover I drop my rod a couple inches to reel in more line, however the put about an inch of slack in the line and the fish was gone :( :'( :'(
  22. True but I guess if it doesn't run right I return it and get a bbz
  23. Well the reviews said they were as good as the bbzs so I ordered it. I guess i will test it and let you all know
  24. Are they any good? How do they compare to the 4'' bbz?
  25. X2 This is what you need
