I live in the Tampa area and our bass are fanning beds now. If our next cold snaps aren't too severe, the Feb 7 full moon should start the big mommas moving towards the beds. Right now, they are still staging in the deeper water adjacent to spawning areas. Yesterday, 3 of us caught 144 bass, only 2 over 5 lbs. Most were small males in the 1-2 lb range.

My friend placed in a tourny there in the fall using a frog all day in the pads and K-grass.

I saw a Roland Martin/Jimmy Houstin show from there and they tore them up. They were able to fish the canals in the Majic Kingdom before the park opened, and caught one after another between 4 and 7 lbs.

Lots of little bucks fanning beds, but Momma is still in deeper water here just south of Tampa. Caught fat 4.11 and 7.2 lb bass in 12' two weeks ago. Scheduled to go Friday, but it's gonna be colddddd!

I don't know how long you'll be in the area, but I have access to some private lakes just south of Tampa, where we typically catch 50-75 bass a day. I caught this 10.3 lb bass there, and last week, caught 253 in one day with 2 friends.
