Browns Lake near Sioux City
Just had a report that there was a big fish kill on this lake over the winter - our club is supposed to fish there in late April - wondering if anybody up that way has heard anything?

Can't take it anymore!!
Talking to a guy today about the temp (in the 40's) - he said "won't be long with days like these" - I told him it ain't the days, it's the nights - everything that melts just freezes back at night >

Best Baseball Movie
I can't think of a baseball movie that I didn't like, but The Rookie one of my all time favorties. There is another one that I believe Kevin Costner was in where he is trying to decide whether to retire to make room for some new player and the entire movie is flash backs of his life and career. Can't remember the name, only saw it once, but it was good and I don't think it has been mentioned.

Zorinsky Lake Omaha
Don't give up on Standinb Bear - two years ago, I had a 20.75" from the second cove down from the dam on the south side and lost out for big bass to a 21" from just west of the rip rap area on the north side. Last year my non-boater pulled a 19.75" from "cemetery ridge" about half way up and I got several keepers on the north end where it turns toward 144th. That tourney was won from the grass edge along the south side between the dock and "cemetery ridge". I heard that they stocked SB with trout last fall, hopefully that made the bass fat

Zorinsky Lake Omaha
The big 3 in Omaha are Walnut, Wherspahn and Zorinsky - but you may have abandoned one of the best lakes in this area when you left Lincoln - did you ever fish Stage Coach? Our club had a tournament there last year and it was great - only a couple of really big fish, but tons of keepers. Also, there is a lake about an hours drive east of Omaha called Prarie Rose - this has been a good fishery for the last couple of years. Anita, just a little further down the interstate is another good fishing lake, just getting back on since they drained it a few years back. And of course the lakes near Creston, IA (Icaria, 3-mile, 12-mile and Green Valley) get lots of attention from the Omaha crowd. Going south there is a pretty good little lake called Pony Creek just across the KS state line (Sabetha, KS) and further down is Banner Creek. East of there is Mozingo in Maryvile, MO a little further but well worth the drive. Glad to have you on board - let us know how you do this year, if the ice ever melts that is PS - almost forgot, Standing Bear is another area lake that is pretty good, but can be very tricky from time to time

first time tounament director any advice?
When I first joined my club the guy who was President had a saying that has become famous in our crowd - it will all work out at the ramp - after fishing with the club for 5 years now and for 2 1/2 years as calcutta series director I now know what he was talking about - it's fishing have some fun!

Lily pads
I did see this and was also surprised - unfortunately what Stricker said was that they are "tranparent" - I rewound it to listen again and this is what he said - you are correct they are "translucent". Not a big deal, but it caught my attention.

Is there a name for this?
Actually I have done this unintentionally a few times - I access the forum at work and after I read a question I may start posting an reply only to be distracted and when I finally do get the reply finished and posted, I discover that another great mind was posting the same thing. Don't be too quick to judge - if somebody is doing something you consider unnecessary, just let it roll - how does it harm you?

Who is your favorite tackle retailer and why?
BPS because of their in-store customer service - not Cabellas for the same reason

Skippin with a baitcaster
When I do this I use what some people call a roll cast - let some line out and just roll the lure around the end of the rod - I don't have much luck with a jig, but it is dynamite for a T-rigged worm or senko. I have also seen people do this with a frog when throwing under willow trees. The suggestion about using the tape is excellent - can't wait for the water to get soft so I can try that.

10 Myths About School Shootings
Everyone does have to be accountable for their own actions and that includes the people who might have known, should have known or could have known. Things like this don't just happen all of a sudden - there are always clues that surface after the fact. What we as a society need to do is find a way to recognize these clues before the fact. Some times that comes from just listening.

Zoom speed worm
I fish these about 90% of the time - T-rigged with the lightest weight sinker I can get by with - my tournament PB was taken on one of these fished in a large, submerged brush pile. Hopped it through the branches and got nailed - had another one hit me about two minutes later in the same brush pile but hung me up and broke the line while we were trying to move the boat to it. My goto color is June Bug and June Bug Red.

18th Annual Outdoorsman's Swap Meet
We rent out the tables for the vendors and then charge $3 at the door for shoppers. We have to pay the rental hall and the state of NE decided to start taxing our take a couple of years ago, but we still make out pretty good. There used to be about 5 or 6 of these every year in this area, now we are the only one.

Elite Series in March?
But are they fishing it on Monday - Tuesday and Wednesday? The calendar shows them in tournament 3/13 (Thurs) through 3/19 (Wed) - just seems like this is pretty unusual.

Elite Series in March?
I recently visited the BASS website and they had an Elite Series Schedule that you could print out - so I stuck one on the wall in my office, just 'cause I could - but then I noticed that there is a "Citrus Slam" tournament shown occuring March 13 - 19th (seven days - Thurs through Wed) - does anybody know what's up with this?

Arkie head vs. football head
I personally have had better luck with the football head, not to say you won't get hung up, but the "bow and arrow" technique usually will get them unstuck. Arkies tend to bury in more - jmo

Bob Knight
A basketball genius and a @$$ hole - but an avid fisherman as well - I believe he had more guest appearances on Jerry McKinnis' show than any other guest
