We had a club tournament at Zorinsky on Saturday - water temps were 47* and water was lightly stained - fish haven't moved up yet - still holding in 10' - 12' of water or deeper. Fish were caught on a variety of lures - mostly jigs and some jerk baits. All the fish caught were bigguns for that lake: 2 20'ers, several 17"ers and smallest was 14".

Solutions To Fish Mortality In Tournaments
Just curious - how would outlawing C-rig help with fish mortality rate? There have been numerous posts on this site about dealing with gut hooked fish and they all seem to suggest that the fish will be alright - this is what I have observed and have always thought. RW, can you elaborate?

Exclusive interview with John Crews
Yeah, not a bright move to recommend eliminating co-anglers - who does he think is buying those Spro Crank Baits? The argument that you don't have ameteur players on the basketball court or playing with Tiger Woods on the golf course is not a valid comparison. BTW - disappointed in you too, Glen - no Jan/Marcia question - maybe he isn't old enough to have an opinion

The money minnow
This was featured on a recent episode of Bill Dance - he gave examples of fishing with them all through the water column by adding weight or reeling them fast or twitching them

Nebraska Bassers
It looks like it should be an awsome spring lake - there is a large flat on the west end that is really shallow - it looks like a good spawning area and the tree line sout of there is good for staging.

Crank Baits and Timber
There is a lake near here that usually shows up on our club tournament schedule every year - it is full of brush piles and trees. Most guys spend their time pitching T-rigs and jigs in there. I found some Pflueger Crank Baits at BPS for $1.99 and bought one of each color to use on a tournament there. I didn't mind throwing a $2 CB into that stuff and losing it - guess what, never lost a bait from getting hung up on the cast for the whole tournament. Did catch some fish though and had a couple break me off by getting wrapped up in the wood.

A little help
Don't know much about pomme, but since you are in the heart of bass country you and your buddy may want to consider hiring a guide. I know an excellent one for Table Rock - if you are interested PM me.

Nebraska Bassers
It is south of Sabetha at Holton, KS - our club fished a tournament there a couple of years ago and it was awsome in spite of 100* temps, cold front moving through the day before and 30 mph winds on tourney day. Hope to get back there some time.

THE FLAMICH CUP! ON THE WORLDS GREATEST FISHING SHOW!!!
I didn't much like Zona when they had that "loud mouth bass" show a couple of years ago, but he has really grown on me. A true ambassador for the sport.

Nebraska
There is another thread running in this forum about NE bassers you might want to check out - as to catching fish -- that would be a NO! -- I did catch one 10"er this week, but I think he was so cold he just wanted to get out of the water for a while.

chatterbaits how do you fish them ?
I fish them two ways, depending on the cover in the area. If there is a lot of grass, I fish them like a spinner bait or Rat-L trap - swim 'em into the grass and then rip them out. If there is not much cover in the area, I fish 'em like sort of like a jigging spoon - pull to get 'em vibrating and them let 'em fall. Be ready when fishing them this way - bass usually hit them on the fall and will hit them hard.

Asking Permission in upscale areas
I have a similar situation near my work - what I did was ask around until I found someone who knew someone who lived on the pond - I then wrote up a permission letter and asked that the first someone ask the second someone to sign it. No problem.

Fish Kill Rumors
If it turns out that this was connected to the tournament - then the culprit may have been the 90+ degree temps that they kept talking about. Around this area, when the temps get that high the DNR makes us have weigh-ins twice during a tournament day.

Well it's God's water but he said I could use this 50 yard radius of it for right now - so stay the #@)) away!

TIPS ON FISHING SLOW IN THE WIND
Maybe you are talking about baits like senkos and dingers that won't sink because the bow in your line is holding them up. If this is the case, try putting a split shot on your line (maybe two depending on the size) to make like a mini-C-rig. This helps hold your bait in position and still allows the wind current to put it in front of the fish.

New Area........
The problem with throwing a jig in this situation is that you will not be covering much water - I would go with a spinner bait &/or Rat-l-trap as a search bait and then follow up with a jig or a Senko after you figure out what they are doing.

All of the lakes north of KC are fishing that way right now, 'cause we ain't had no Spring - winter just keeps hangin on - the fish are confused -- they pull up and then have to pull back 'cause the water is not any warmer close to the bank - I have been out twice this year so far and the warmest water I have found has been 42* -- >

When a guy comes up short that many times he has to start looking in the mirror - I though it was interesting that he said his wife would be "p-o/d" at him.

lake conway
I was there about 40 years ago (wow?) and caught one of the largest small mouth of my life. Nothing to report since then.
