Kinda funny
My boss came to work this morning and told about being behind a tow truck towing a car. Apparently the rear wheels locked up and the tires were smoking - she called the company on her cell phone to let them know.

Looking for a Bass Club in Your Area?
Actually another way is to google your state and bass clubs - not all clubs are federation affiliated.

Who here likes to read?
I read anything by Dean Koontz - just finished Brother Odd, the last of the "Odd Thomas" trilogy - he has a new one out, but I'm too cheap to by the hard back - will have to wait until it comes out in paperback.

Whats your favorite roboworm style for a C-Rig?
I have never thrown a Robo Worm on a C-rig either - one of the most popular C-rig lures in this area is the Lake Fork RingFry - you might want to give that a lookysee.

Petrino to Arkansas
The Southeast Conference was supposed to be the dominant force in college football this last year - the problem was that they beat up on each other to the point that only LSU really rose to the top and even they had a tough go of it toward the end.

Cletus Take the Reel.
Definitely one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time :exclamation

Jigs living rubber or silicone?
GMAN, what is the "time and place" for each?
-
Good jigs for beginers.
This doesn't really answer your specific question, but it might help - it did for me. Try using a braided line for jig fishing - I use 20# (6# diameter) Power Pro - you will be surprised at how easy it is to feel the bite and this can lead to confidence.

Mall shootings in Nebraska????
Actually he was "kicked out of his house" some time ago - the getting fired from McDonalds happened the day of the incident, but he apparently had the AK 47 the evening before. There are lots of stories floating around about this and details are being dispensed with an eye dropper.

GPS recommendations
I have a Magellan Sport Track - has enough bells and whistles to make it interesting, but not so many that you have to go back to college to operate -- just one caution through, invest heavily in the energizer bunny, 'cause these things eat batteries.

Your " go-to" bait when fishing is tough???
GULP!

Different slang names for big bass :-)
There have been a few times, after battling for what seems like a really long time - that I end up calling it catfish >

Washed Crankbait in Dishwasher
Actually I discovered this method several years ago - my son has an eagle eye and was always spotting lures stuck in trees or tangled in brush piles. We would collect them and he kept them in his tackle box. That winter I pulled 'em out, discarded some that were beyond help and ran the CB's through the dishwasher - after putting new trebels on them I hauled out the BPS catalog and calculated that the cost of these CB's would be somewhere between $60 and $80 new. Some of them returned to the brush piles w/o me getting all upset and others caught fish - well worth the effort.

carolina rig in spring
For some reason this is the time of year when I find lizards and other creature type baits work best - it has been my experience though that the ones with lots of arm/legs/etc. don't do as well as the stright forward ones like brush hogs.

Drifting away from Senkos
I too was a Senko fanatic about three years ago - but two things have caused me to drift away: 1) there are so many "knock offs" that I find that are useful, it is hard for me to concentrate on keeping my stock of pure Senko's up to date. 2) here in Nebraska you have to battle the wind all the time and this makes fishing Senko's weightless (the only way I really fish them) almost impossible ("hey, my Senko won't sink").

Take a good look at your "check-it" stick - are all the numbers there?

New Sonar
I recently bought a Humminbird 565 - 640 pixels and dual beam - cost is around $200 and recently saw them in the BPS Christmas sales flier on sale. You may want to check it out.

American Ingenuity? RANT
It ain't just kids today - In my case, both my Dad and my Grand Dad were master mechanics and could fix anything - unfortunately neither of them had the patience to teach me. Their favorite expression when I would try to learn was, "hide and watch". As a result, I am now 57 years old and although I have learned some things on my own, I am still at a disadvantage when things break down. You guys who had someone show you are truly fortunate and those of you who are showing someone else, remember that not every body knows what you know - but if you give them a chance, they just might learn.

What's Wrong with this picture? Can of Worms
Luckyinkentucky, you say you have to pay this cost for brand name drugs, but is there a lower cost for generic drugs? If there is, be very careful - not all generic drugs are the same as the brand name - specifically the "bonding agent" (the stuff that holds the chemicals together) may be different and can affect how the drug works. Do some research before switching to a generic. Roadwarrior, one of the common criticisms of "socialized medicine" is that it is "rationed" - but part of the reason for this is that the doctors leave those countries because they can charge higher fees for their services in other countries, like the USA. But even then, they are subject to the rate limits imposed by insurance carriers and so they tend to try to maximize their earnings through volume - ever try to get a doctor to sit down with you and explain what they found during their examination - they don't like to do this 'cause the insurance carriers won't pay them for it. The healthcare system needs reform, but the pharmaceutical and insurance lobbies are fighting hard to protect their profits. Don't be sucked in by the sound bites.

What's the next category
I have been reading "Sowbelly" and ran across this little tidbit - it appears that the National Fish & Wildlife Service considers any one an "avid basser" who fishes 15 days per year. I read this to my wife last night and she is still laughing ;D

awesome encounter.
This summer we fished a club tournament on a lake near Des Moines, IA. My partner and I were third "blast" - first "blast" went west and number 2 and us went west. It was just at safe light and as we approached the spot with #2 would start, we all saw two does, each with a couple of (almost) yearling fawns playing around the edge of the bank - they were not spooked by the boats comming at them and #2 was able to get within about 75 to 100 yards before they ran off - we were right behind them and got to see it all. It was really fun to watch 'em playing in the water.

WOW! I can't believe this topic is still comming up - it may be one of the longest running topics on this forum. All of the replies have been interesting, though. Keep 'em comming.

anyone here tried Rick clunn Lucky Craft &nb
There is a 70+ year old guy that I fish with - he makes his own jigs and spinner baits and throws them 90% of the time. But he has started "branching out" in the last couple of years and started using crank baits more. A couple of weeks ago, we were fishing on a small lake that was almost completly dried up two years ago, but produced some good quality fish in large numbers. This year the area got massive amounts of rain so we decided to give it another try. The water level was about 10' higher than we had ever seen it and there was this rock jetty that we used to fish around that was now under water. We could see fish everywhere on the depthfinder but couldn't get any of 'em to bite. We decided to try fishing the, now flooded, jetty. He pulled out an RC CB that he told me he had bought several weeks before but had been reluctant to throw for fear of snagging and losing it. He tied on and made his first cast - right away he had the first bite we had seen all day, but the fish (a pretty good one by the way his rod was bowing) made a run for a nearby brush pile and got wrapped up. He manuvered the boat over to the fish and could still feel him pulling when the line broke. This was the only bite we got all day, but I still don't think he will shell out the $$'s for another one.
