  1. Don, There are several ways to paint jigs. Powder paint with the brush tap method, spray the powder paint on or airbrush with lacquer. Powder paint whether you spray it on or use the brush method is the most durable. I use the brush tap method, where you load up the brush with powder paint and tap the brush with the powder in it over a hot jig. As far as colors go, you can do a base coat of white if that's what you want as your overall body color, and then put on your other colors. Once you get all your colors on and your jigs done put them in the oven to bake. No matter which way you go all of this will take a lot of practice. My avatar is all powder paint and that jig has 6 colors + a clear coat. There is a guy on this site by the name of Smalljaw. He does some phenomenal baits using an air brush for powder paint. I'm sure he will chime in along with others who do some beautiful work as well. On the mold and weedguards, what mold #, name or model do you have. Let us know and we can tell you which weedguard fits the mold. Most Do-It molds are for the 1/8 " weedguard. I don't like heavy weedguards and I always cut them in half. Just my personal preferance.
  2. Very nice Smalljaw and Thanks for the detailed info.
  3. I agree with smalljaw67. For the best price and quality of unit out of the box buy it from tj's tackle. If you want to build it from scratch, send me an IM and I'll get plans out to you.
  4. I like to use different colored claws on my crayfish baits as well. Interesting color combo on the claws, I never seen that color. Is that a green pumpkin or rootbeer color with teal claws? Hey what happened to the Snootie Jig. LOL
  5. Wow, those are truly amazing. The paint job, the photography and the lighting. Makes me want to buy all of those. Job well done. You should do a commercial for those. Reminds me of the Trokar video kind of eerie and to the point.
  6. Are you referring to the jig body or skirt colors? On my jig bodies I use a lot of blk, blk/blu, green pumpkin and bluegill colors like my avatar. The same goes for the matching skirts. I have never had a lot of success with white or wht/ylw chart. Most of my powder paints are custom made, so I can create some really interesting color combos. You can do that as well, just use your imagination.
  7. If you are looking for powder paint IM me with your e-mail and I may be able to help you out.
  8. It doesn't get better than that.

  10. Jigfishn, Me like squeaky buzz baits.
  11. Bill, Are those airbrushed? Very nice indeed
  12. All the above info is right on the money. The nice thing about making your own is you can customize it to the way you want it, color, hook style, size and skirt. Also it's a great feeling to catch fish on something you made.
  13. Those look really good Scorcher Lot of good lookin' spinnerbaits on here. Top notch :respect-059:
  14. Thanks Smalljaw. Many years and hours of trial and error and failure.
  15. Looks good for your first time.
  16. I have not used their brand, however I make my own, and use it for a very slow presentation, with a slow fall in clear water. Very effective if fished correctly.
  17. I can pretty much do any logo. The only stipulation would be, that it would have to be an exchange of something, like poured worms or baits. Since I don't have the rights to sell any major league teams and or trademarks, these can not be purchased and I will not sell them. Currently now is not the time to make these as I am in the peak of the season and very busy. However talk to me in June or July if he can wait and we can work something out?
  18. Here are a few of mine

I do the same as Seibert Outdoors.
  20. Nice chatterbait Smalljaw.
  21. About a year ago, I was taking some advance Cad classes and our cad company has one of those. All I can say is that it is amazing. They were making covers for jump drives (as samples for us) with the companies logo on it. Once programmed they were done in no time. Truly remarkable. Actually $1700.00 to $2000.00 isn't really that expensive considering all the time you would save in labor.
  22. billy, I'm going have to agree with the two guys posted before me. With powder paint you have many colors you can choose from. Vinyl paint is limited. I've heard that vinyl paint is more forgiving than powder paint, however I have never used vinyl. So with that said, if you throw your jigs in a lot of rocks don't expect the paint to last. I mainly fish open water and weeds and if I can keep a jig on all day without losing it than the bottom of the jig has minor abrasions. If I fish rocks, they get chewed up pretty fast. That's the way it is, or try the vinyl paint.
  23. I agree with Smalljaw thet are too cheap in cost to bundle them. Now I have looked into fiberguards from push broom makes. Believe it or not they use the same type of stuff for their push broom as we use for our jigs. I've contacted some broom manufacturers and they were unwilling to give me any sources for their plastic bundled bristles. But I would believe they would be dirt cheap in bulk quantities.
