Bass Pro Shops XPS lures
for the price you can't lose. They work great in my opinion the only down side is they dont last as long. I like the balsa boogie but like i said after a few good fish they start to crack, nothin a little clear nail polish cant fix.

early spring clear water
I've been fishing a medium depth i would say about 8-12 feet and occasionally 3-6. Mostly on the deeper side though. The water is between 38-45 degrees altough in the shallows on the northwest closer to 50. I ve been fishing on the colder side. i cant get a jig bite it seems that the bass are suspended silver is really the only color that has been catching me fish but its only during times when the wind is ripping. any advice would be greatly appriciated. thanks

early spring clear water
Here in the northeast the ice has been out for about a month or a little more. I've been out on the water as much as possible. During this time of year it seems the water is much more clear than later months. Most of the fish i have caught have been during windy days but when its calm and sunny there is virtually no bite. I know the fish are out there but i need some advice on clear water tactics. The lake i fish has an average depth of 9ft and a max of about 36ft. any help would be much apreciated and any other info about the lake just let me know. Thanks alot. -Mwbrown

Red mouth on a LMB...I mean REAL red!!! What's up???
i caight a bass the otherday with the same red on its mouth. the water is barely 40 if that. I would like to know why this happens and i dont think it has to do with crawfish because in the past 20 years i ve only seen one in this pond and i live on it.

Jigs
I'm looking on some advise on jigging. I've been tryin with some SK bitsy bug and smallie jigs along with some larger sizes. I have a bunch of different colors but very little confidence jog fishing. I've been throwing them on a 7'3" carrot stick mh with a 7:1 pro qualifier. Normally i use this rod and set up for C-rigging but figured it would work the same. I have 35lb power pro on. If anyone has any techniques, what king of structure to look for. anything that might help i really wany to learn more about jigging also any info about trailers and when to use them. I live in RI and the ice has been out for about 2-3 weeks so the water is barely 40 in the shallows andd deffinitly colder deeper. I've been catching a decent amount of fish on lipless crankbaits. Please let me know what kinda advice you guys got. Thanks alot.

First Time and the water isn't even 40 yet
i went out today and caught my first bass of the season. i was throwing a silver and green jerkbait with a bit of purple when i got a bit of a birds nest. When i retrieved the bait i reeled it in fast because it wasn't very far out. I had a follower, so i threw the jerkbait out a few more times. Nothing. made the adjustment to a lipless crankbait. Silver and black and caught my first three bass of the season. Not bad for a chilly march day. Made up for the other day when i went out with my buddy and he got the first bass of the season.

Spawning Flats question
What about water temperature i've heard that they start to spawn once it gets above 50 and does the spawn normally take place in northwestern area of the lake out of the cold wind.

yo-yo
In RI all the ponds are beginning to thaw and i'm looking for the best techniques to use. I plan on throwing small jigs and spoons, but i've heard a lot about fishing lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I dont know much about fishing these baits in cold weather and was looking for some advice. yo-yoing a lipless crankbait is a technique i hear a lot about and i was wondering if anyone cold explain this to me any better along with any other techniques. Thanks
