  1. I'm In Thnx
  2. If you really want to make Mom happy, put a picture of you and her on the inside of your boat. Then each time you take the boat out, you can look at the picture and thank her. I guarantee she'll love you to do that.
  3. :-/I grew up fishing rubber worms and I hear people catching a lot of fish on tubes now. I generally fish 7 1/2 " worms and sometimes 10" worms texas rigged. How do you decide when to use a worm and when to use a tube bait? Thnx Thnx
  4. Darn Livewell system in old Ranger Has anyone attempted to replace the livewell system in their old Ranger? I have a 1984 373V Ranger and the darn Livewll pumps are blown and the system seems so crazy and antiquated. Thanks :'( :'(
  5. Great for you. You stayed positive and it paid off. Congratulations and people like you give others hope that one day even we might be able to finish in the money one day. Tight Lines Foodeefish
  6. I am rebuilding and adding to my 1984 373V Ranger casting deck. I want to be able to pull open the storage and rod holder lids and not have the lids fall back down on me. I know some people put in some type of shocks and other just put in rods or sticks of wood. What is the best sytem you have used on your boat and where did you purchase them or how did you make them? Thanks Mark :-/
  7. I learned a long time ago, when you take the young ones fishing it's just that- they are going fishing and not really me. If I get a few casts in that's just a bonus because I am either untaggling a line, taking them potty, opening a juice, getting them lunch, taking them to go potty again. etc.. I am married with no children but if anyone's kids want to go fishing, they know if they ask politely, Mr Mark will always make time to take them. What's really sad is there is no shortage of single moms or dads that have children that want to go fishing but they have no one to take them ( or the parents just do not have time. My attitude is a docked boat is a useless boat.
  8. Looks like you got a keeper there so don't throw her back. The fish she is holding is nice as well. I wouldn't care if my wife lost my best lure because I can always go to the tackle shop and buy another. Stay happy and healthy for a long, long time
  9. Nice going and anyone would take half those fish as a great few days of fishing. What did happen to that first fish? Something really wanted him.
  10. Wow!! Two great fish in one day. Now that's a day of fishing. Keep fishing and the record could be yours. Good Luck. Foodeefish
  11. Here's a better picture of the fish I caught so if it's less than 9#s, please be honest and let me know. I promised my Dad I would catch a Double Digit Bass like I did playing the Wii fishing game with him and my older sister. He asked me to catch it before I am 50 so I have 4 more years to keep the promise. When my Dad was sick, I bought him the Wii fishing game so at least he could do some type of fishing, even if it was only a game on TV. He loved it and it was the last physical thing he could do before The Man up above took him from us less than a year ago. Father's day was hard this year, but I wanted to wish all of you Fathers, or Men who represent a Father to a child, a Happy Belated Father's Day. That includes you guys who may be dating someone who has children. You may not be their Father, but you may be the best Father figure they may ever have. They may not realize it today, but as they age, those children sure know what a day out fishing really is all about. It's not the fish you catch, it's the time you spend untaggling their line, patiently showing them how to cast, and just sitting listening or saying nothing. Life is just like fishing- . The best things or the best fish sometimes takes a little time. If you spend the time with yours kids now, they sometimes don't swim straight, but, because you put your time in with them when their young, , the rewards will be bountiful. Missing my Dad. 12. Thanks guys for the info and I will post on the other forum you mentioned. Spanky
  13. I just purchased a 373V Ranger and know nothing about this model boat. Does anyone have a copy of a manual or any information about this boat? I especially need to know about the controls on the both consoles, as the sun has raded out the writing. On the bow there is a switch that I believe says "Charge" and I need to know what it is for. I do not want to just start pulling wires and attempting the "process of elimination" fact finding mission. Thanks everyone for your help. Spanky :-/
  14. We actually had a scale an hour before I caught this fish, but my brother-in-law tripped on his travel humidor and broke it. He's a pretty big guy and he crushed it. He's a great guy and I am trying to get him into fishing even if it means he just casts a bit and smokes cigars in the back of the boat with a beer. He just bought me a new scale so hopefully I won't have to ask "how much does it weigh", I'll just be able to post the pictures. Thank everyone and we will call it 9#s. Back to reading evryone's great tips and advice and trying to catch that 10# plus..
  15. Thank you all for your wieghts and honesty. I call it 9#s and continue to fish for the double digit dream fish.
  16. I caught this Bass on a white spinnerbait in South Carolina. I did not have a working scale with me but it was 24.5 inches long. Have I finally caught a double digit bass or am I dreaming? What do you think it weighs as I released it soon after the pictures. Thnx
  17. I purrchased a 1984 Ranger 373V for $1500 with a Oil Injected 150 HP Merc. It really does not have a lot of storage space and I would like a larger casting deck. There is no storage under the casting deck but I don't know if I should or can cut into it to make storage. In front of the drivers console there is room to extend the casting deck but on the passengers side there is a bench seat (see picture attached). This would make it difficult to add once piece of marine plywood and extend the casting deck. How would you customize it and what would you use? Anyone ever customize this type of deck or boat for storage? I have attached a picture of a boat exactly like it Thanks all for your ideas and guidance
  18. Hammer, I just received my 4 jars and I will try it in South Carolina for the Memorial day weekend. If it works as good as they pack this product it shoulod be great. Usually products like this end up breaking during shipping but not JJ's I'll let you know how it works.
  19. The water is clear down to about 6-5 feet. It's a spring fed lake. Thanks Everyone
  20. Thanks to each and everyone of you that sent your prayers and kind words after I posted my thoughts of my Dad and his passing. This forum shows that with everything going on in the world, you all took time out of your busy lives to drop me an e-mail. Some of you sent it to others to help support them in life and that is what Dad would have wanted Thank You!! Thank You!! Your actions reminded me of another thing my Dad told me when I was young. He said are always good people out there and you find the best people at the end of a fishing pole. I think it is true of this forum as well. God Bless you all and Memorial Day will be just that this year for me. Remembering My Dad by taking a Retired Military friend fishing who has not fished in over ten years. I will be trying to catch that ten pouned Dad always wished for, and I'll catch a few fish in memory of others you all may have lost. Mrs Matstone, I'll catch one for Grandma Too!
  21. I am not sure when to use a spinnerbait versus a crankbait versus a rattletrap. If your casting to a point and there is a weedbed four feet down in eight feet of water which would you throw and why? Is the point to get the lure to swim right above the weeds and hope that is where the bass are waiting? Is it better to fish a spinnerbait when the wind is out and use a crankbait for calm waters? Thnx Foodeefish :-?
  22. Bobby Megastrike, Thank you for your thoughts and kind words about my posting. What is great is it was in memory of my Dad and many of the Forum members are sending it to friends and family. If it gets one more Dad to spend quality time with their child or if one more son takes his Dad fishing, it was well worth writing. Spanky SC.
  23. :oWow!!! Nice fish and I can only hope I get that lucky this year. Nice catch.
  24. :)Thank you all for your thoughts, Prayers and comments. Your words would put one more big smile on my dad's face. I'ts great to see that many of you, no matter what, make every effort to spend time with your children. Patience, teaching, quality time- it's not the quantity that instills morals and values in young people. Like some of you, I too am lucky enough to be able to be the "Cool Uncle" with no kids. Every chance I get we go fishing because that's how it should be. To remember my dad in another way, I am in the process of putting together a glass top coffee table with memories of him in it. The old pink Creme worms he use to fish with, the old metal - lipped jitterbugs he always swore by, the first Rapala he gave me, his fishing hat, pictures of him fishing, his pocket watch he never looked at when we fished, the rod tip to my once favorite rod when he slammed it in the car door, the dollar bill I won from him for the biggest fish on my birthday, and of course the centerpiece is his American Flag. Dad was a Korean War Veteran protecting our Country. Him and I am sure many of you fought so we kids could grow up in the best Country anywhere and fish and hunt. Thank you to all you Veterans! With permission from the keeper of this website I would like to print the comments made on this thread and make it part of my table to remember him by. Please let me know if this is okay to do. Thank you all again for your support and prayers.
