First time on the Potomac
Hope Springs is a good launch point but just be prepared for an expensive ramp fee. I think its over $15. There is also another marina near Hope Springs, its called Willow Landing Marina, last time i was there the ramp fee was $10. good luck

Best waters for numbers in VA
Amelia Lake is pretty hard to beat as far as numbers goes, tons of small fish. The occasional 3-4 pounder can be found too.

Advice For Boat....
I couldn't agree more. I use Bass Boat Saver. Also, BBS or BTS acts as a repellant, so dirt, grime, and scum, etc. don't even get on the boat. The boat stays cleanier in the first place, making it much easier to maintain.

Mattawoman Creek
speaking from expereincec, the potomac can get rough in that area. i have an 18 foot bass boat; a few years ago, we launched out of pohick in the morning, ran to mattawoman and stayed there for most of the day, left by noon to head back to pohick and there were 4 foot rollers in the main channel. my partner and i were soaking wet from several waves rolling over the boat. glad the bilge pump worked. i would use extreme caution

any tips/suggestions for the Potomac???
Last time I was out there was Sept 15. Fished Aquia Creek and was only able to find them in the back of the creek on wood structure. Ended up catching 7, caught on t-rigged plastic worm and spinnerbait, none of them over two pounds. I was not able to locate any fish in the middle of the creek in places along the grassline where I usually catch them during the spring and summer months. Seems that action has slowed down in Aquia since the nights have started getting cooler, also it hasn't rained a whole lot, so I don't know if salt water is moving in or not. good luck

Potomac Boating question
I highly recommend not going on the Potomac in a Jon boat or small craft, especially the section of the river between woodbridge and aquia creek. It can get pretty nasty out there, even if the weather is great. I've been out there on great days, very little wind, no storm, nice day and there were 3-4 foot rollers, me and my partner were soaked when we got back to pohick....

Nitro X4,X5 or Stratos 176XT
thought about the Triton Explorer line? not much price difference between the stratos XT model and the triton explorer model. I've got the 18 foot triton and LOVE it. great ride, plenty of room, great fishability, its the same shell as the TR18, just a lower HP rating, check it out

Sandy River Reservoir VA
i practically lived at that lake wihle living in farmville. caught fish just about everywhere. fishing the timber in the two upper arms is a must. i would regularly catch 20" bass all day back in that timber. mainly caught them on plastics (had a lot of luck with tequilla sunrise), and shad crankbaits. have fun out there

boat business idea
considering the cost of insurance, and the costs of milage on your tow vehicle, you would have to charge a lot and I think it would be so much that the average weekend boater would not be willing to cough it up, however, if you were at some ritzy marina catering to a wealthier crowd, then they might be willing to pay the high price

Va guys post up!
I currently live in richmond, Lately I've been fishing Anna, the Lower James, and Chesdin. When I was at HSC I was fishing Sandy River Resevoir every other day, awesome place, I think Briery Creek overshadows Sandy River, still liked Briery though

Old Gasoline
Does anyone have any good tips on how to siphon out the gas, in a safe manner? I haven't tried yet, but I'm not sure if its going to be easy fitting a hose down the tank, I think there is a nice bend from the remote fill to the actual tank. I've got a 18 foot Triton. Anyone got ideas or past experience with this? Thanks for the help

Old Gasoline
Is it necessary to remove old gasoline from the gas tank? I've got about 8 gallons of 7 month old ethanol blended gasoline left over from last summer in the gas tank. The gas was treated with that Stabil Marine formula stabilizer which claims to keep the gas fresh for up to a year. I've heard horror (and expensive) stories about the damage ethanol gas/water can do to an outboard motor. I'd really hate to be out on the water and break down because there is water in the motor. I did change the fuel/water seperating filter this winter. Does anyone have any advice? Also, is it best to use the Mercury fuel treatment products or can I just stick with Stabil for a Mercury engine? Thanks for the help

Looking for a Central VA Bass Club
I'm looking for a bass club in central VA. I've been fishing for about five years now. Just purchased a Triton 18 last year. Not sure where to start, I'm looking for a good group of guys. I'm 24 and wouldn't mind joining a club that has some similar aged people. Time and money is limited so I'm looking for something that would be 1-2 tournaments a month somewhat close to Richmond. Does anyone know of any clubs in the area looking of new members or any advice in general? Thanks
