  1. The commercials and infomercials don't get me but the fishing shows with people like Bill Dance and Larry Nixon or just any high profile fisherman will get me. If they have a show about a lure I may not run out and buy it but if I'm at the store and happen to see it I'm more likely to pick it up over something else. The tournaments on tv influence me also like the classic or the elite 50 ESPN is showing now. I would like to sit here and say that none of this stuff affected my wallet and my tackle box but unfortunetly it does. On more than one occasion I've looked through my tackle box and thought "Why the :-X did I buy this?"
  2. Which one do you prefer fishing for? And why?
  3. I'm with you Rich. But something keeps getting in the way of me mastering that. I'm pretty sure it's called marrige. ;D Kajun
  4. Glenn I've never seen the show either so I also cannot comment about whether or not it is any good but allowing him to post a question on your site asking that question I think was a very good idea. It gives us as sportsman a voice as to what television tries to show us. FYI to the guys from OLN Larry Nixon's show is great so I'm pretty disappointed :'( that I haven't seen his show in awhile. 5. There's a couple things i'm going to try. First thing I'm going to try to get the hang of is the lipless crankbait. I have never caught a fish on one. The second one is the soft jerkbait. I've never even fished one of these before so that will probably be an all year affair. Kajun
  6. I start finesse fishing. Throwing smaller baits and fishing them very slowly. Especialy if I think the bite has stoped due to fishing presure or due to boating pressure. Around where I'm at I have to deal with alot of recreational boaters on the public lakes or rivers. I think this makes the fish a little skittish and more weary of anything thrown at them. Kajun
  7. I was reading an article in this website today written by Mike Iconelli about crankbaits. In it he starts talking about a technique to retrive your crank baits when they get hung called the bow and arrow release? Could someone please explain this method to me?
  8. While I am not saying that a big bass won't hit a topwater bait I don't think that a topwater would work in this situation. He and his friend caught 50 bass in two hours. With that many bass in the area I dont think that a topwater would make it through without something small getting to it first. The comment about fishing really slow with a jig or a 10 to 12in plastic worm I still think that would be your best bet. Kajun
  9. I read an article this morning talking about a Sand Bass but i've never heard of one. Is it called something else? If not where are they located?
  10. Hey Tinusp, If I were you I would throw some bigger baits at them. Something like a 10in worm depending on the type of structure you are fishing. Also structure next to deep water always is a good bet. I've never heard that topwater will catch bigger fish thats a new one to me. And don't forget live bait if it's allowed. A nice plup fathead minnow always works for me.
  11. How does counting down a Rat-L-Trap work? seconds=? feet.
  12. I agree with Bassin101. I'm pretty much a rookie myself and this site really helps me out. I really don't want a whole lot of new forums myself because the way it is now it kind of dumbs it down for me and makes it real easy for me to navigate. Thanks
  13. Hey Chris, I'm just started jig fishing with pork within the last year or so. I like everything about it except when i'm done fishing and I try to get the darn thing off my jig. Any suggestions? That might be a stupid question but i'm just a rookie so take it easy on me.
  14. I am from Covington LA. About fourty-five minutes north of New Orleans. I fish small farm ponds most of the time also. I haven't lived here a long time but so far I have had my best luck with jig combo's.
  15. I use Bang crawfish scent on most of my jigs. I don't know that I catch more fish using it but I deffinately feel more confident using it. I do have a follow up question: How often should you reapply scent to soft plastics and spinnerbaits. thanks
  16. This coming January I am moving to western Kentucky and I want to catch some of their lunker smallies I've heard so much about but I know absolutely nothing about Smallmouth Bass. ??? Could someone please give me a few pointers to get me started. Thanks
  17. I didn't catch any lunkers this summer either. The biggest one I caught probably barley broke four lbs. I caught it using a quarter ounce jig with a black skirt and a YUM crawlbug.
