Project Pretty Stick
This is absolutely correct. I spent about 3 years building golf clubs mostly with graphite shafts. the first thing that we were taught when i went to school is how to safely remove old paint/epoxy from a graphite shaft. In the instructors words "if you decide to use sandpaper on a customers graphite shafts then you better be prepared to replace them." I can confirm this first hand when a buddy of mine decided he didn't want to listen and sand the shaft. After about 3 good whacks on the driving range the head of the golf club went sailing down the range about 10-20 yards ;D ;D ;D. Probably one of the funniest things i have seen and truly a "i told you so moment". You may be ok though cause the ugly stick is a graphite /fiberglass composite.(i think)

Daiwa Tierra 153h vs Citica/RevoS
Put simply.....No you did not make the wrong choice. You compared reels and bought the one that you liked the best. that can never be a wrong decision. Now if the product lets you down then try something else like DVT said. On a side note i own 3 of the Tierra rods and they have been outstanding performers for me.

What do you base your selection of new lures you never used before
That is great advice. Everyone's kit will be different and as long as you enjoy yourself while figure out what works for you, then you can't go wrong.

KVD 2011
I agree. But whatever he chooses to catch fish on will see a spike in sales. He could win a tourny with a helicopter lure or banjo minnow and the next day they would sell a million with them. I'm just wondering if he will make a new lure famous or an old lure more famous.

Sebile Magic Swimmer
Completely agree...I bought one a year or so ago based on a friends referral of them and caught a couple of fish the first outing with them.. for me there seems to be a time and place that they are most productive(as with any lure)

Backing with tape?
I usually put some cheap mono on as filler then put 1-2 wraps of tape around that, then just tie your regular line on or you can use the tape to hold the regular line when you spool up (however i find tieing gives me more ease of mind than just taping the line) Gives the same effect and no guessing how much tape to use.

Strike King
Yea true, but it seems that most of their stuff is just a knock off of someone else design. SK usually designs, builds and markets their own products.

Strike King
Is Strike King the only lure company that sells (sucessfully) hard baits and soft plastics? Why do think none of the other major companies have tried to get into either the soft bait or hard bait market?

Flip Clips Instead of Fizzing?
Wow that looks like a great idea...I don't really fish deep just because i know i will probably have to fizz 'em.

Why braid?
With all due respect - this is absurd. Mono stretches when significant force (read weight) is applied, as when a fish is on. But it not going to exhibit any significant stretch in the absence of significant weight. Twitching a soft plastic across or through grass, or bumping it off the bottom, is not going to stretch mono "like a rubber band." And if there is no significant stretch, then stretch is an insignifcant factor in sensitivity deadening. If this is th best "logical" explanation you can come up with, then I'll assume you can't answer the question. From what i gather dodgeguy is not saying that that the mono is stretching when twitch over 35' he is saying that the properties that give the mono its stretch has a vibration damping effect. Here's a test to prove it. Grab some mono and tie one end to a door knob. pull out 20-30 feet and hold it so that it is tight but don't stretch it. then have someone tap on the door knob with a quarter. Do the same with braided line and i think you'll understand that braided line will transmit vibration better than mono even though neither one is stretched. Its not about stretch its about vibration dampening and a stretchy line like mono does not transmit vibrations like a non stretchy line like braid does.

Best fisherman on this site....?
I'll have to give the nod to CATT for behavior and overall knowledge of the species... Raul on lures and the way their action or lack there of relates to catching bass, and gotta go with Fish Chris for ability to catch fish based on the pictures he has posted. I will say i have to give the "newbie" nod( a member less than a year) to Sean W. He has had some interesting points and seems to know his stuff. And for the Youngsters (under 18) BASSclary. Even if some of his post are controversial, at least he has offered his opinions and he is definitely learning something by being on this site .
