  6. Anyone here how the first day went on lake gaston today. I would like to know what the weights were with the weather. Thanks, Tracker
  7. A lot of boats are in the mud....A couple buddies have pontoons at cozy cove and they are in the mud...Its almost impossible to get into the old river and I heard the fishing is tough....As well as riding the lake if you can get out because a lot of structure is just under the surface and many boats are being damaged....Good luck to anyone going out on that lake....You can walk from cozy cove over to the chesterfield side and never go over your head until you hit the channel right there at the shore...great time to mark some structure.. Tracker....
  8. Fishing has been tuff. The lake was very low 2 weeks ago but has come back up in the last week. We had some luck on points and on hot days skipping under docks. From friday evening thru sunday are a mess on the lake due to tubing, skiing, and jet skis.....Lake can produce big fish if they can be located.
  9. Started pulling my wife skiing with my fathers 18ft procraft with a 175. Thanks to all the help on to forum that everone gave me. I heard that they make pylons or poles that can screw into your back pedestal seat. Just looking for some info. Thanks
  10. Appreciate all the info......I will give it a try next weekend when we take the boat to gaston.....I will try it out with my wife.......By the way she is 5'9 130lbs.....So I should be able to jerk her but right out of the water....
  11. Thanks for the advice guys. Dad doesn't use it hardly so I'm the one using it all the time. Used it at gaston, chick, nottoway and other locations. I will try the trim trick because I have been starting with the motor trimmed up a little and then coming down with her as she came down. It makes more sense what you fellas are saying. I will try it. After reading some post would I need another prop if I wanted to pull my wife sking or would that one work. Thanks again for the replys....
  12. Yeah as far as getting on plane its a big difference when you don't have as much weight. With more weight it will stay up a little longer but it still gets up there with less weight or more weight. Thanks for the response...
  13. My father has an 18ft 1998 Procraft with a 175 mercury. It has a 4 blade 24 pitch prop. It runs good but to me it seems to stand up high before sitting back down. The boat is trimmed correctly but I didn't know if a different pitch would sit it down faster and not raise up as high. Thanks for any info..
  14. If you are talking about the Tru Tungsten Mad Maxx frog the bass pro in ashland had it two weeks ago. My buddy picked me up one is sweet revenge. The rattles in this thing are awesome. I love it.
  15. How is the fishing on gaston....Me and some buddies are going on friday the 24th. We are putting in at pea hill creek. We have never fished there but are going to give it a try. Any info would be appreciated.... Thanks
  16. If you came out on the WMA then you were on morris creek which leads to the chick. There is another boat ramp across ferry point bridge which is on gordon creek. The chick can be fun fishing pads with frogs and such. Just get you a map of the chick and yall will be fine....Good Luck
  17. Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it..
  18. My father just bought an older procraft and we are looking to upgrade the electronics. The front of the boat has an x25B and the console has an x75. We were looking to see if anything that lowrance makes will be compatable so we don't have to change any wires. Emailed them and have not heard anything back. Just wondering if any of you guys know. Thanks
  19. Try taking something that you know the weight of. Like a weight off a weight bench or dumb bell and tie a rope or shoe lace around the weight and then hook it to the scales. I know that my rapala scales are 2 ounces off.
  20. Actually you can have up to a 10hp motor on the lake.
