  1. I was wondering when would the time be to break out the spinning rod for fishing for smallies in the James River
  2. The major force behind all of what we do and buy is the media and advertising with a few exceptions, but speaking of buying lures I go through the fishing section of Wal-Mart and buy what looks good, what I was told what is good, or what I saw on t.V. that looked good.
  3. It is indeed an effective technique. Many of times when I'm fishing and I have a blacklash, I'll let my lure sit there as a pick it out and many times I'll have a fish on. When the fishing is slow sometimes I'll let my bait sit there. Its sometimes the thing you need at a time like that, but I seem to get a lot of snags from my lure being on the bottom. I think the lure would be a good idea in heavily pressured lakes and during a cold weather.
  4. how is anyone suppose to respond to that?
  5. wow, i didnt know sml had any bass. Everytime i went there it was overun by boats and was polluted. I always thought it was a striper lake. I fished there at summer camp and only caught some lil blue gill.
  6. I don't see how it could hurt it, if anyhting help, but i'm not a fish doctor.
  7. 6-7, i think i would be better if i had a good close place to fish and a bass rig.
  8. When you locate the weedbeds what lures do you throw?
  9. I have a mantis also, there fine for now, i would reccomend fishing in rivers, its less err proof and has a lot more fish then in lakes, but if you want size go for lakes.
  10. I fish for smallmouths a lot. I fish for them in rivers mostly and mainly use tubes carolina style and grubtails on occasion. I catch them mainly by letting the lure float through current and keeping the slack out and waiting for hits. You might want to try your local rivers and streams for smallmouth.
  11. i didnt have a weigher, i just measured them sm- 19 inches fishing with a tube in a river lm- 20 inches fishing in a reservoir
