  1. I know that a lot of guys buy my spinnerbaits this time of year waiting for that first warm day. I do sell a lot of single blade (big colorado blade) spinnerbaits to guys that are willing to fish the cold weather. I would focus on a jig but that is only if I am fishing out of a boat. If on the bank I would do just what was suggested...spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits. Remember that they are moving slow.
  2. I think I know who you are. Don't you fish for VT?
  3. First of all...you have mail. Check your pm's. Secondly, the pamunkey especially is a good place to throw baits that resemble craws. You have to understand that the crawfish do change colors during the year. I know what color they are during the summer and I can tell you that the phrase "match the hatch" definitely pays off! I have to laugh though. It is very easy to find out what color the craws are at the pamunkey but people just don't know about it. :-X
  4. just fished the pamunkey in brutal wind a week ago. If you are going to throw crankbaits you may want to have some that are mostly gold and some that are mostly red in your arsenal. Shallow divers like lucky craft RC 1.5's or bandit 100 series will get the job done. We found more fish around rocks last week than we did wood but again the conditions were not what we would have normally fished. Focus on bends in the river (hint hint).
  5. As a local tackle maker I know this may sound like a ploy to get people to buy spinnerbaits but its not the case at all. I am telling you that everywhere I have been in the past couple weeks the spinnerbait bite has been GOOD.
  6. The spinnerbait bite has been HOT! I would make sure you have some white or chartreuse/white spinnerbaits. If for some reason that doesn't work for you I have been picking up some fish on a moccasin blue jig.
  7. Thanks for the info guys. I will start making phone calls today!
  8. Ok, so here is the deal...I own a small wholesale tackle company and I have a bunch of jigs I would like to donate to a good cause. Maybe something that gets children involved in fishing, or some kind of group like that. The problem is I don't know of any groups of that type here in VA. Can anyone help me out please? Thanks
  9. I know I have been making jigs for a couple tournament guys that have been doing VERY well on the pamunkey in the last couple weeks.
  10. I currently use powder paint from component systems but I am looking for some paint that is not glossy. I would like to find some matte colors if that is possible. Anybody have any ideas? I also figured if anyone else makes it they might also offer some other colors. Thanks for your help.
  11. I have seen that RCBS furnace you are referring to and it seems really nice. Its pretty expensive but if its worth it then so be it. Any info on the RCBS unit would be great as well.
  12. What do you guys that pour your own lead think the best bottom pour furnace is? I pour spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs ranging in sizes from 1/4oz to 1 ounce. I currently use a lyman mag 20 but was wondering if there was anything on the market that was better. My machine is old and is a bit wore out.
  13. Ok, whats your opinion on the better jig skirt...living rubber or silicone? Im all ears.
  14. I am looking for some living rubber skirts for my jigs. I am looking for some with the rubber collar on them, I don't want to hand tie them. Any guidance on where to find them would be great. Thanks.
  15. the R&R guys are local...Robin Yost is from Chester.
  16. If possible I would feel more comfortable finding someone who specializes in making fishing bait molds. Not really anyone local to me that knows anything about it.
  17. Ok, so I am STILL trying to find someone to make a custom spinnerbait mold for me. I have got a pretty good idea of what I want but now I can't find anyone to make the mold for me. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Thanks for the info Ranger! Anybody else got any info they can offer?
  19. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to find a highly detailed spinnerbait mold. Mostly interested in 1/4 and 3/8 ounce molds. Not looking for anything plain like what do-it sells. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
  20. Ok, so I did get some of the devcon 2 ton and it is rock solid! Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it!
  21. I recently purchased a wholesale tackle company and I am trying to find out what I can improve on. One thing I was curious of was what you guys think the best epoxy is for attaching the weedguard to the jig heads. I currently use Loctite epoxy and am using the 60 minute type because the fast set type sets up too quick when I am making a lot of jigs at one time. If you have something you like better please by all means tell me so. My only requirement is that it HAS to dry clear. Thanks for any info.
  22. If ANYBODY has any IN ANY COLOR I am willing to buy! Please pm me if you have any.
  23. I have been looking on ebay for weeks now and cant find anything under "chico crankbait", "chico lure", "chico bait", etc. My understanding is that it is a small crankbait but I have never seen one in hand. Its driving me crazy! :-[
  24. Does anybody know anything about these cranks? I have hear a lot about them but have never seen one for sale and don't know where to find any. Any help would be appreciated.
  25. Does anybody know where I can get some lumaflex skirts at a decent price? I may in the near future be interested in some in bulk as well. Thanks.
