  1. try fishing weightless. texas rigged. you will get hung up much less. i fish from the bank alot and find if i use a spinning reel i can throw just about bait far enough, even weightless.
  2. i think a Veritas would be a good choice a the $100 price.
  3. absolutely.... the 7" in camo has caught many fish for me.. and i use the10" black or black w/blue at night.
  4. for confidence....I retie either the night before or the morning of every tourney I fish. it only takes a few minutes.
  5. thanks.. i can "see" where the conditions/moonlight and water color would call for white to be effective. i never thought of that....and the article didn't mention that either. and i also agreee with the vibration and the fish using their lateral line to hone in... thanks again...and it looks like i will keep an eye towards the sky for my 2 upcoming night tourneys...
  6. i use Yozuri Ultra soft in either 6 or 8lb on my smaller size spinning reels and love it...higher breaking strength and very durable. i also use KVD line conditioner....it DOES work..
  7. looking at one of these...wondering if anyone has used one and could give their opinion/feedback thanks
  8. i read in the most recent Bassmaster magazine an article about night fishing and the guy said the only colors he uses are "white or white/chartruese" spinnerbaits when he fishes at night. i've always read and heard to use black. not that there are any hard and fast "rules"... but... anyone else use white or white/chartruese at night and had any luck? thanks...
  9. i've got one and never had any propblems with it. also have 2 Presidents and really like them as well. for the money...i think they are the best value for the $$. IMO
  10. for spinning.... Ultra Soft..... no doubt
  11. i kinda wonder about that "power hump" too. not sure how comfortable it would be. that Powell rod looks good but is only rated up to 3/4oz lures....not sure i want to exceed that by a full 1/4oz?? thanks for the replies.... i appreciate it... decisions...decisions..
  12. do you think the Med would be better than the MH? how accurate is the power rating for that rod?? does anyone know?? i want to be able to use the 1 ounce cranks.
  13. i see where these are on sale for $55. would the 7ft MH be good for deep cranks? i can't fit the longer ones in my vehicle so it would have to be the 7ft one. i'm sure there are better (higher priced) rods. but for the money i've heard these are pretty good. and it looks like it will handle up to 1 ounce cranks like the Spro DD. would you recommend this? or not.. for deep cranking? thanks for any advice/feedback
  14. so the Ultra soft doesn't have the same lb test rating? ie. 6lb = 11.9 strength
  15. I am a little different than most and prefer to throw the lightest weight I can get away with - 1/4 -3/8 oz in shallow cover. X2
  16. i've let red shad worms bleed on watermelon worms and craws, etc.....for a "bleeding" look....whether that made a difference or not...i'm not sure..but i've caught plenty of fish on them...
  17. Cavitron
  18. i use both. it does seem that the 5" have thicker trailer "legs"
  19. yes, francho those are them...i thought they would be good for hula grubs or craws. was not looking to use for swim baits..
  20. anybody use these? looks like a pretty good/versatile set-up for variety of plastics. wondering if anyone has used them and what they've had the best luck with. thanks...
  21. Texas Tackle X2
  22. check/post in the flea market here. some great deals. as others have said ebay or tackle warehouse or quantum direct.
  23. based on the reviews/recommendation of RW and others here, I tried the yo-zuri US a few years ago on all my spinning reels. i love it. i use the 6 & 8lb both. with KVD line conditioner it works really well. strength is way above the rating. i use it for all applications...cranking, worms, topwater...i can't afford specific set ups for every type of fishing so i have to use some for all around and i use co-poly on all those i also picked up some McCoy copolymer last year on sale and really like it too...
