Scum Frog
Scum frogs catch plenty of fish. A slow retrieve making twitches over heavy slop, weeds or other cover is the way to go, and then slowly twitching it and letting it sit in a pocket. The strikes are ferocious. X2 just remember to pause when you first get a strike/blow up. that is the key. don't get too anxious.

Best Night Topwater
X2 on the black jitterbug. steady retrieve. don't stop reeling if they strike and don't get it. keep reelin' don't panic and jerk when you hear the explosion. you will feel the weight. black spinner single colorado blade works pretty well too. black popper and black Cavitron buzzbait also.

hooks. EWG & REG when to use each
i am not sure when and what baits to use each type of hook and what is best. when is an EWG best and for what and when is a straight shank hook best? i appreciate the help.
-
Lets talk buzz baits
Cavitron. they have a longer shank for better hook-up and have a distinctive squeaking (not sure if the squeaking helps or not) bit i like it. and i've had more luck with them than any others.

Shore fishing tips
i do 95% of my fishing from the bank look for any cover to start. weeds, brush, laydowns etc. or shade during the day. i used to cast straight out.... wrong... cast parallel to the bank. i would start out with worms. i like to rig mine wacky, using a weedless hook, size 1/0. they give the most action and work best under most conditions. let it fall on slack line. watching the line. then reel slow and feel for any tug, tap, twitch, weight. if you get a strike...watch your line... if it is moving set the hook...if it is a tap, just stop reeling a watch your line, most likely you will get another strike and then you can set the hook. i also like to go at dusk and dawn. using top water. black jitterbug is my favorite. again, casting parallel to bank. it is easy to work and once you get a topwater blast..... you will be addicted... there are many good articles on here to read. what i just said is very basic but easy to learn and practice. good luck!!

ITS BUZZBAITN TIME-CAVITRON
Cavitron rocks!! 8-) i own other buzzbaits but advice from here steered me to buy a couple Cavitrons. have had success and lov'em. they are the best. seem to have a longer shank to avoid fish hitting the blade allows for better hook up ratio. also can run them real slow or fast. very versatile. will be putting on the BUZZZZ and.... the 'ol black jitterbug

Lures you DON'T use?
i do most (90%) of my fishing from the bank since i don't own a boat. and even when i fish in a tourney with my club as a co-angler, i realized i rarely/barely use a crankbait. and i own a whole assortment cause of the Bait Monkey.... but after this weekends tourney i swore i would not buy anymore cranks.... i fish plastics 75%, buzzbaits and other topwater as well as spinners..... so... for me...... i don't use cranks...

shakey head worm.....educate me..
ok.. maybe another dumb question... Raul , or others if i use a regular jig head that doesn't stand up..... what's the point of using a jig head? if it falls over to the side....wouldn't it be pretty much like a texas rig at that point? of course i do beleive that 95% of jigs will end up on their side anyway....so maybe i'm answering my own question :-/ i like the idea of it standing straight up ( 8-)) so, i should invest in the evolution.....but i can't get them at Dick's... what would be similar that they carry? until i order some evolution online? thanks for the feedback.... much appreciated.... i'm fishing in a tourney sunday....as the co-angler.... i'm like a kid waiting for a friday night date
-
shakey head worm.....educate me..
thanks sam... and tim.. i appreciate your info. i only have "regular" bare jig heads. i need to get the ones specific for "shakey". i have seen the ones from megastrike...the evolution one look really good

shakey head worm.....educate me..
this may sound dumb to some.... (hey, that rhymed) but... i need educated on how to fish a shakey head worm. i don't own a boat so 95% of my fishing is fromt the bank. i don't fish jigs much at all (afraid of getting hung up all the time). when it comes to shakey head worms.... do you just rig them on a bare jig head? and bounce them on the bottom or let them sit and "shake/wiggle" them just as the name says?? sorry if this seems pretty stupid... but i didn't know if there was more to it than that. i really want to start fishing jigs w/trailers and do the "shakey" thing to expand my techniques. i already own some jigs and trailers but no shakey head worms. what shakey head worm do you like best? Zoom or Berkley? and colors? i'm goin' to Dick's tonight. Bait Monkey is already in my car thanks for the help...
