  1. Randall was right on look for the shallowest water you can find on my boat for example I have a temp gauge which is right under the surface and the deph finder on my trolling motor also has temp and their will be a degree and a half to 2 degrees difference in water temp with only a foot or 2 difference from the point of the readings,so I would also head to the backs of the creeks with no water flow, the warming steady temps should make this even more productive.
  2. I fish a lot of Tournaments as a co angler, I just always try to do something a little different then the person up front, if this is a team event try to just change up from your partner, different retrieve speeds and different baits or colors till you figure out what works best, if an individual event I always try to do the opposite of what the boater is doing. Good luck hope you do well
  3. Ok guys looking for some tips and advice. I fished a resevoir on a river system over the weekend and the water was extremly muddy. The water temps were in the low 50's and visiblity of about 1-2 inches with alot of debries in the water. Looking for someone that has experienced these conditions or who has knowledge of what works and what baits you used or recommend to catch fish. If you have some successful methods I would love to hear them, as I have to fish same area again nextweekend with more rain coming. :-/
  4. I have always thought if I could spend as much time on the water as the Pros that I could compete with them, but in fishing more and more I think it is a lot mental and natural ability. I had a good friend who could catch and figure out what to do on any lake to catch fish and he spent no more time on the water than I did. I fish tornaments with my son(started at age 8) and because I have made him think more about what he is doing instead of just following what others do he has became an excellant fisherman and loves to beat dear old dad(which he does alot now). I think making him use his mind as well as ability has helped him (he also does well in draw tournaments and beats out his boater alot) So in my opinion not only do you need the time on the water you need some natural talent and the mental makeup to make it as a Pro fisherman.I also feel Pro fishermen are athletes also.
  5. Sorry to hear about your theft. I had all my equipment stolen several years ago and had some hand made lures that a friend of mine who had passed away made for me(sucks cause they were not replaceable). Try just to get a list of everything you can with replacement cost for your insurance co. I know you cant replace everything but it does help move things along faster. Good luck hope everything goes ok. I now take everything out of my boat (even though it is a hassel) but not as much of a hassel as trying to replace everything.
  6. Hi my name is Jeff I am 51 and live in Dayton Ohio. I have been fishing for as long as I can remember and have been fishing for Bass for 30 years. I like to fish anywhere I can but enjoy the Ohio River or Indian Lake the most. I fish the BFL circuit and Myself and My son run a division of USA Bassin in Ohio. I joined BFR because I am always looking to learn as much as I can about Bass Fishing and enjoy teaching youths about fishing.
