  1. If I see a snake I am paranoid for the rest of the day about it. I usually walk right up to them and they see me before I see them. So the rest of my fishing trip I am looking around for snakes and not paying attention to the fish. Not a fan of snakes.
  2. I absolutely suck at fishing tubes. And the river I fish at is probably great with tubes because it's so rocky and there are lots of crawfish. Plus I ALWAYS snagged with tubes so that is another reason I hate using them. Every other cast I'm hung up on something. I know it's all about confidence and the confidence level is low with tubes.
  3. As others have said I would try to use bigger bait. You probably wont catch as much though. Quantity or quality?
  4. This thread has me all excited, I never would have thought you can catch bass in PA right now. It was 32 degrees this morning! I'm heading down to the river tonight, if anything I can try out my new rod.
  5. I have used a uni to uni with 30# Power Pro to a 4' Seaguars floro leader and had good results.
  6. Depends on where I'm fishing. For small streams and ponds I have a 6'6" Berkely cherrywood rod with a Abu Garcia Cardinal reel and 6# mono. For the larger rivers near me I have a new 7' Pfluger 6740 that i just purchased and I'm thinking of spooling it up with Power Pro 30/8. Probably a little overkill but the river is fast and I'm tired of losing tackle.
  7. Hey everyone, I have a general newbie question here so bear with me. I took a quick trip to Sports Authority at lunch and to my surprise I found a Pflueger rod/reel (6740) combo on the clearance rack for 49.99. Now I know the reel is great for the money (this is now the best reel I own) but are the Pfueger rods any good? It says its a medium, 7', 1 piece, IM8 graphite. Should I upgrade the rod? I will use this rod for pretty much everything, so I dont have the time or want to really lug around multiple rods/reels. Also, I have Power Pro 30#/8 phantom red color braid that I was thinking of spooling up and using it with a Seaguars 30# flouro leader. I will be fishing mostly senko's and soft plastics and a few crankbaits. Should I use the braid or should I just use mono/floro? Sorry for all the questions.
  8. Long time lurker so I figured I'd finally join. This is an excellent site you guys have and I've learned a ton just reading the old threads. I fish mostly ponds, creeks, and rivers in the Philadephia area. I live close to the Schuylkill river so I've been doing a lot of fishing there the last couple years. Lots of smallies and flat head catties. Not a bad river given the terrible shape (pollution) it was in as few as 10 years ago. Anyway I'm looking forward to being a member here.
