I would start with a jerkbait. If that doesn't work i would use a lipless crankbait or a jig.

Im located in York County I have never fished that stretch of the river that you and buddy want to try and fish. My friend always wants to try that stretch of the river out. But its too cold for him now. So Im prb fishing the rest of the season solo.

what lake did you go to? Also how was the fishing? I went to Arrowhead saturday 10/17 and I didn't get a bite. Then I went to another lake and got skunked there too. I am gonna try the saco river this weekend.

silver buddies don't work good in the chilly water

Is there any rocks or wood anywhere on this pond? If you wanna catch some smallies I would fish around the mouth of the river. Where there is current.

I went to little ossippee last saturday and I didn't do that well. I caught 1LM and 1SM. Lm on a white spinnerbait and SM on a jig. I did find a spot where there was many smallmouth followers. I just couldn't get them to bite. This was is on a flat in 25' of water. Have you tried the saco river in standish/limington stretch above the dam. Great LM and SM area. They have fixed the dam so the water level should have risen up enough so the fishing is good.

Would a 1/2oz football jig be a good choice for smallmouth 25-30 feet deep.

Swimbait spinnerbait and jig

[i need help with the jig bite ] From my experience with jigs. You can feel bites really good. It is usually a couple of tugs. I set the hook right when i feel the tug. I think the tug is when the fish sucks the bait in.So you want to set the hook soon after you feel the tug.

I recently started fishing the jig and pig. The jigs I use were poured and painted by one of my friends. They work awsome and I have been cacthing some quality fish on them.They don't cost as much either. so you can lose some. I really don't think the rattles matter that much. I always fish them with a trailer. 3/8 OZ should work good.

I have been using a red and white dare devil.

I fish from the back of the boat almost every tournament or almost every time i go fun fishing. The catch ratio for both my friends and I are pretty close. My partner is good at positioning the boat so we both get some decent casts. It doesn't matter to me if im on the front or back I still catch fish and have fun doing it.

I caught 3 largemouth they all came from under docks. I caught them all on a black and blue jig with a yum trailer. I pitched the jig under the docks and let it sit there for about 10 sec. then gave it shake. They would usually hit it after the shake. I only could fish a couple of hours because i went after work. If you go out there on a sunny day I would throw a spinnerbait too.

I need some help catching smallmouth in Maine lakes. I can't buy a bite from a smallmouth. I recently did a tournament on Long lake. Which is a good smallmouth lake from what I heard. All I caught was LMB. A lot of people caught there limit with smallies. So I am looking for tips on location and techniques. I tried spinnerbaits tubes jerkbaits and got no takers.

I am going to fish little ossipee this saturday. i was going to fish it last saturday but i went to dundee pond instead. Wasn't a good choice, they only followed my bait to the boat I couldn't buy a bite. I am going to try jigs and jerkbaits and spinnerbaits this saturday. You should try fishing arrowhead it is close to ossipee and good bass lake too.

so are you saying that largemouth are what i should be targeting in that lake? Because from what i can remember that is supposed to be one of the better smallmouth lakes nope I was just telling you what we caught. I also was told it is a good smallmouth lake. I cant wait to catch some.

I was up there last saturday with one of my friends. I caught only one LMB. MY friend caught 5LMB and 1Smb. The smallie was caught on a jerkbait. I tried tubes but didn't get a bite.That was my first time fishing long lake.

I made it out on the water saturday 4/11. caught my first fish of the 09 season. 2lb LMB on a blade bait. Anyone else have any luck?

I got out on the water yesterday. Didn't catch anything. Lake Arrowhead iced out on 4/5. I am gonna fish that friday and saturday. If the weather is not too bad.
