Defining Success
Like some of the other post I think success is defined in many different ways. This time of the year success will not be measure by how many you catch but may be measure by the quality of what you catch. The great thing about bass fishing is its a thinking mans sport. If you set out to catch a big bass by using only large baits and you only catch one lunker and nothing else then I would have to say you were successful. I think success may be measured differently with each trip.

Yak, welcome aboard. Like you I troll when moving around from one area to another. It is a very effective way to catch fish and especially bass.

pros
My favorites are the ones that go more in depth on techniques and lure presentation such a Denny Brauer, Hank Parker and Bill Dance. As for as the pro tour is concerned Van Dam is consistantly at the top and I like Greg Hackney who seems to be rising quickly.

Name a lure thats a fish catching machine
Like hawg dog, I can catch bass on the 6" zoom lizard (watermelon seed) when nothing else works. I fish it weightless. The zoom lizard is barely ahead of the berkley 7" power worm (black). These are my go to baits. I also like the senko's 4 and 5 inch. There are many senko imitations that work just as good. 7" culprit (red shad) is very good also.
