  3. t bend tex; Welcome home dude, we'll be at Sportsman's Friday This will be an interesting trip because I'm fishing with one of my old tournament partners that I haven't fished with since 1978 when we set the lake record for a 15 bass stringer at 72.78 lbs. We will even be fishing out of his 1977 Skeet Wrangler which has been garage kept since 1980, is that cool of what.
  4. I've made reservations for Friday & Saturday but if this sucker changes direction so will we. 500 AM AST SAT AUG 18 2007 MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 150 MPH...240 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. DEAN IS A CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO REACH DEAN IN A FEW HOURS. I'm planning on doing some hawg hunting both nights and fully expect rain, winds, cloud cover, & low barometric pressures. Depending on winds we plan on fishing Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, & Jig-N-Craws; a possibility of trying a swim bait.

  6. Avid on Toledo Bend now that's funny; but seriously being from Florida he might have an idea on fishing high winds, rain, quick changing conditions.
  7. Cut it yourself. Haven't been to a barber in 5 years. I do miss going to the barber shop though... Yea we've noticed
  8. We talked about almost every possible scenario there is but this one; I've made plans to head up to Toledo Bend Friday & Saturday for some night fishing. Problem hurricane Dean as of now is projected to make land fall some where south of Brownsville, Texas.

Regardless of what knot you are using the clue is still the end of the line was curled up; that's a slipped knot, a knot cutting in on itself, or what ever you want to call but is wasn't line failure. The curled end means this was where the line was cinched up round the eye and retained the contour of the eye. When the line breaks the ends will always be straight because it was straight to start with, unless you have one heck of a kink.

Move south Some days I'll duck hunt in the morning & fish in the afternoon 8-)
  13. When you find these so called worms please send me a PM because to the best of my knowledge they don't exist. Every one has there personal favorites that work on their body of water but there is none that work on every body of water or under every situation. Some days it's one type, some days it's three or four types, some days it's one color, and some days it's three or four colors. Experiment and find what works best for you on your body of water
  14. The beads of condensation are from the salt; salt in the bait + humidity in the atmosphere cause the salt to melt forming droplets of moisture. Leave it there long enough and corrosion will form on the hook. Elementary Science 101
  15. Big bass may only be 1% or 2% of a population Try going to a larger 8-10 worm with a broad tail like a Zoom G-Tail; rig it with a 1/16-1/8 oz weight thus changing the fall rate.
  16. Trout a La Meunière Prep Time: 15 minutes Yields: 6 servings Comment: While this receipt calls for Speckle Trout many Cajun anglers substitute Rat (small) Reds. Ingredients: 6 (7-ounce) trout fillets ½ cup vegetable oil 2 cups rice flour 1 cup egg wash (1 egg, ½ cup milk, ½ cup water) Salt and pepper to taste 1 pound of butter Juice of 1 lemon 1 tbsp minced parsley Method: In a heavy bottomed saut é pan (skillet), heat oil over medium-high heat. Separately season flour and trout with salt and pepper. Dip trout in egg wash then in flour. Saut é 3-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and keep warm. In same skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat until it browns around the edges of pan. Squeeze in lemon juice, and add minced parsley. Serve over saut éed trout.

Dude here's the clue the end of the line was curled up; that's a slipped knot What I've noticed over the years is that when tying a Palomar knot one part of the line will get stuck between the end of the hook eye where it meets the hook shaft. When you chinch the knot down this part will not pull up on top of the eye like it should; result a knot that will slip.
  21. Ok guys y'all ticking me off; it to far of a drive for me :'( L-Train Matt's a hawg hunter so be careful you could end up with a DD
  22. I use attractants because I fish in grass a lot and the attractant helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up.
  23. I occasionally fish Toro Creek below Toledo Bend Reservoir
