  1. hey guys, this is probably my weakest subject in bass fishing, not that i cant catch them when i find them, but i just cant very often find them! where do you find bass in very cold water (47-53 degrees) ? and what techniques do you use? i just got done fishing my first bass tourney for the college team. In pre fish, the water was about 62 degrees back in the bays and we were slayin em on lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, jigs, and frogs. Them a cold front came in and droped the water from 62 to 53 in one night! we only cought 1 keeper on tourney day. bummer mine is letting weightless flukes slowly fall over shoreline cover, fallen trees and culverts and such. lipless cranks when the water is above 53 or 54 degrees
  2. Arkie salty crawlin grubs (with standups) zoom horney toads (black) bass assasin flukes (the best fluke ever made) chatter bait - skirt + banjo minnows = awsome (extremely erratic action, and swimming action) Roboworm floating worms bassmagic type swimbaits (fished in heavy cover)
  3. my fav. is to rip horney toads along the edges of shores and ontop of the muck. It seems like the black ones work the best. allways works good when fishing pressure is very high, really fun too!

I like the sammy....but surprisingly ive had more strikes using zara spooks, and heddons spooks. The sammy's action sure looks like it would catch more fish though, i think its becuase the other spooks make more noise, more rattles.
  5. I do really good with the sebil double jointed wake bait, forgot the name sorry it works really well for me in cold to hot water, mainly fished as close to walls and ledges as i can. I like it becuase when the waters warm, it can be fished very fast making for some explosive aggresive strikes on the surface. And can also be fished very very slow for lethargic fish.
  6. cool, megastrike is now on the way along with some finess jigs and standups yeah i never thought about the importance of lubing swimbaits and jigs, makes sense. thanks guys
  7. I have never really used fish attractants, but after smelling Bangs crawfish formula at dicks sporting goods, it made me wonder. It smells excactly like nasty dead crayfish. Im not very interested in the scent making them bite, more just to cover up smells that may turn fish off from my hands. Ive been doing alot of cold water jig fishing lately and wonder if anyone has had particularly good luck with a certain brand. tight lines!
  8. I went out on a limb and bought the steez last year and was very very happy with it up until now. Its been about 8 months since i bought it and have probably only used it on about 30 outings. I have oiled the spool bearings about 6-7 times between outings with daiwa's oil, and keep it very clean and out of the dirt. Yesterday i made a cast and to my utmost disapointment, i heard a winding sort of grinding noise. now, there is noise in what sounds like the main drive gears and in the spool bearings, allmost sounds like there is a tiny little piece of dirt inside the beardings, but they really can be. Has anyone else had problems with their steez? Its kinda frustrating on spending 450 bucks on a reel. also, im scared to send it into daiwa to get fixed becuase last time i was out of my zillion for 2 months and they didnt even fix the problem!! > and yes i have cleaned and oiled the bearings, does anyone know of a site that sells replacement upgraded bearings for daiwa reels?? thanks dudes!
  9. These in the brownish green color are probably my favorite all around plastic BY FAR. I use them with a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce standup head and usually fish them in high pressure lakes or rivers with rocky bottoms They look so natural bouncing over rocks. But yeah they are a great bait in rocky suroundings, i never did all that great in muddy or woody cover.
