  1. Went out today for 4 hours and was once again unable to catch a bass. Fishing has been terrible for me lately. Anyone know or heard of Tim Mceachern? I was scrolling through lunker bass pics on the charlie moore website and this guy had a couple pics of different bass weighing in the 7.5-8.5 pound range and then he had one pic of a bass that weighed 10.2 pounds. These bass were caught in NH. I'd love to know where this guy fishes. He never lists the lake he was fishing but there is probably a state record in there somewhere.
  2. So I went out for six hours 2 days ago and couldnt manage even one bass. I caught a bunch of perch, pickerel, and bluegill tho. These conditions are really gettin the best of me. This rain has really messed up the fishing.
  3. No hawgs today because I didn't bother to go out lol. I think I quit fishing after yesterday. I was out on Powder Mill for 6 hours and did not catch one bass. I used many different lures, retrieves, and fished many different types of locations, cover, and structures.. There were a lot of people out too and none of them had any luck either. One thing I did notice is that the current is a lot stronger than usual. I just wish I could figure out how that affects the bass because I feel that's the key to catching them in these conditions.
  4. I'm using spinning tackle. I'm thinking maybe I should be using a longer rod? I'm currently fishing them on a 6'6" light action rod.
  5. Thanks for the advice unhbass. I fish at powder mill most of the time and the problem with it is there really are no drop offs. It's mainly flat and shallow. The only drop offs are in the creek channel.
  6. I like the action this lure has, but I have been having problems casting it. It's too light. I feel like I can only cast it 15 feet max. Any suggestions or input for using this lure?
  7. I'm currently facing some new conditions on this particular reservoir. As many of you probably know the northeast has been getting hit with rain and cooler temps lately. The water level is rising, the temperature is dropping, and the water which is usually a greenish-brown stained color with around 3 feet of visibility is now a brownish silty color with about a foot of visibility. The current is also getting stronger. You can't really see the current when on the main lake, but "upstream" where it gets narrow you can actually see the flow of water. One thing I forgot to mention in earlier posts, is that when the water level is low enough to where you can see the bottom, some of the sandy areas in the middle of the lake and on the sides loaded with freshwater clams. Taking all these new conditions that are occuring into account, what would be the prime spots to fish on this reservoir judging by the map I have provided earlier in this thread? I'm a little clueless when it comes to conditions such as these..
  8. I went out today also and didn't do so hot. I caught somewhere around 10 perch, had 1 sunfish, and 2 pickerel, but couldn't land a bass! My dad manage 2 bass. One was 3lbs 1oz and the other was a dinky smallmouth. I really need to figure out how to pull in some numbers, it's pretty frustrating. My best day this year I caught 5 bass. I'm trying every lure and fishing all the "key" spots. Yesterday I followed a creek channel and fished it for about 2hrs, with no bass. I would stop and fish stump, rocks, and other types of cover. No luck.
  9. Yea its a great spot if you want to catch a monster. It's not so good if u are looking for numbers and a lot of action. I'd say that an average bass is about 2.5-3lbs. Those sized bass are very common. Me and my dad have already pulled out 4 that have been 5+, two of them being a hair under 6lbs. Right now the water there is very stained.
  10. Caught this at Powder Mill Pond yesterday. It weighed 5lbs 1oz..
  11. is that millfoil in the second pic?
  12. Wow nice fish! The kids have all the luck.
  13. wagn, that video was funny. The place I went to was in Francestown also it's called Pleasant Pond.
  14. Went out yesterday and caught 5 bass. I had one on that I believe would have gave my personal best a run for its money. When I first set the it felt as though I was snagged on the bottom and then it took off. It was pulling the drag out and bending the rod hard. I got it close to the boat and was ready to pull her in and she shook off the hook. So now it goes in history as a fish story. I also caught a 3lb 1oz and 4lb 0oz. Here they are:
  15. Yea it definitley seems that rain will push bass shallower. But I heard thaton reservoirs, the current can affect the food in the water that baitfish feed on. Like it will push it down "stream" and the bait fish will follow and so will the predators such as bass.. does this sound somewhat right? So if it is true maybe Ill have to find banks and other current breaks where baitfish might be gathering?
  16. On the small reservoir that I fish, the current was noticeably stronger due to heavy rains from previous days. The water was pretty muddy up the first third of the reservoir also. I went out fishing the usual spots the other day and had very little luck. What adjustments should be made when this situation presents itself? how does it affect bass behavior?
  17. How much do you think all this rain will affect the fishing? I was at powder mill pond the other day and there was a stronger then usual current. I could not find any bass. Powder Mill Pond is an impoundment on the contoocook river if you didn't already know this. Anyone know how an increased current flow would affect the bass behavior?
  18. nice. Im going to have to try that place again sometime. Did you catch numbers in there or was it mainly just that mosnter??
  19. Yea I watched ur video and I think I know where u were. There was a camping area with a little opening in the woods for launching boats right?
  20. Jaystraw, What areas of halfmoon pond were you fishing? I've been there before a couple of years ago.
  21. I have yet to have a day where I've caught more than 8 bass in all my years of fishing up north. I've caught double digits in florida, they seem easier to catch down there.
  22. I did a little research and found the creek chub and I definitley thought that's what it was. But i noticed the creek chub has rounded fins, whereas the fins on this fish are more pointed. But it is definitley a sucker. The weird thing is, I caught this fish on a jig and it litterally took the bait as soon as it broke the surface. These are some pics of creek chubs I found online, to me they look different.
  23. I caught this fish about 3 years and never really knew what it was. I did not know much about fishing and assumed it was a trout. It's obviously not a trout, so can anyone identify it? It's the only one I've ever caught.
  24. Hey guys, I went out yesterday and was only able to catch some pickerel and perch. It was the first time I have been out in the past 3 weeks. Have the majority of bass already spawned or are they still spawning?
  25. Hey everyone. I was just wondering if you guys have noticed any bass getting ready to spawn where you guys fish. Have you seen any beds or have they already begun? I know its gettin close to the full moon, so if they haven't started yet it should take place by next week or so right?
