My rods specify a certain range of lure weight. I have no idea what the lures weigh. I held a 1/4 oz. and 1/2 oz. practice plug in my hands, and they felt the same!! I wouldn't worry about it, except I'm not catching fish, so maybe I'm not doing something right.

I have an Abu Garcia 5600CL. The only control knob I see is the one by the handle. When I try to set it, I go from "practice plug won't drop" to "many turns of the spool after touchdown". In other words, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground for the cast control knob. Do I have brakes? Do they need adjusting? I tried reading ReelMech's guide, and got confused where he says " remove the centrifugal brake blocks for now".

I have a 6'6'' Medium Heavy Ugly Stik spinning rod, Mitchell 300, Stren 14-lb. mono, and can't cast worm (or anything else) a satisfactory distance. Problems with setup?
