Horse power rating
well one of the tournaments I was talking about was the big bass splash on guntersville. And as far as the decals that just covers the cosmetics, the serial number will tell the true horsepower. Just didnt want to pull my boat all the way down there (8 hour trip) and not be able to fish the tournament. I know there are faster boats and i might get over looked. But what if? You know what i mean. I dont think its cheating, because you still have to catch the fish. So around home i will still use my boat for local tournaments. I asked the question to see if there were any options on getting a new sticker for the hull. But thanks for all the replies and opinions.

Big Bass Splash (Guntersville)
Wesley Thanks for the advice. I make the trip to guntersville about 3 times a year. So i figured why not schedule this trip for the tournament.

Horse power rating
I agree with all of you on the cheating aspect. I was just looking for options. I will just use my dad's boat. But the bigger tournaments are still pretty small compared to some of your standards. Thanks guys

Horse power rating
Ive got a bnoat and want to fish a couple local big tournaments. But I have one concernn, the horse power rating on the coat guard tag is for 100 Hp and i have a 115 on the boat. Is there anything i can do or am i just stuck not being allowed to fish out of my boat during a tournament. Might be a stupid question but I'm new to fishing tournaments and was just wondering. I dont want to pay the entry fee and then get my boat inspected and get disqualified.

Big Bass Splash (Guntersville)
I plan on fishing the tournament on guntersville next month. I was wondering if any of you have fished in one of the Big Bass Splash tournaments before, and what your experience was? - Basically I am asking if it would be worth driving 8 hours to fish?

Bagley Lures
My local tackle shop actually has a small section of bagley's in the corner. The lures look to be from the eighties. They are old, just never sold(not much business). I picked up one of every color he had.

maintenance
Winter is setting in and it's time to reorganize, restock, and clean. Just wondering how you guys clean your reels. Mine are in bad need of a cleaning. (long overdue) Some of my questions: - Do you take the reel completely apart or just expose the gears? - Should I use an oil, grease, or both? - Do I use a solvent, or hot water? - What brands of oil, grease, and solvents do you prefer? I know people have certain preferences, I'm just looking for ideas.

braided line issue
I have used braid for a while, and have found that if you don't spool it really tight you get those little knots. When the line is spooled on to loose and you put tension on the line, the line will dig in and cause it to catch on the next cast. I use power pro with a line conditioner. I would just tie the line off to a post or something and walk all the line out. When all the line is out tighten your drag really tight and wind it back on as tight as you can. This really helped me. If you have already tried this i would just go for the bigger diameter. Braid will dig into the spool if it is not spooled on extremely tight, and it will cause what i call a wind knot to form in the spool.

what to do?
Went out on a local lake saturday and the last hour found a cove full of big bass. They were swimming around in pairs in shallow water at the head of the little cove. water depth was about 2 feet. There were a lot of bait fish from bluegill, crappie at the mouth of the cove and shad at the head of the cove. Managed to pull 4 small bass (12-13inches) out of the cove but could not get the bigger bass to hit. They were acting really shy. There were also injured buegill and crappie swimming around. Just wondering if you guys had any tips, going back out tomorrow. Should i pull out of the cove and fish the points or go up in the cove and try to sight fish. Oh and alot of small bass 5 inches sunning at the top of the water. The weather is calling for rain and 65 degrees tomorrow. Just looking for some help anything is appreciated. P.S. i live in eastern ky. So the big bass i found, doesn't happen very often.

My budget is around 800 dollars. i was wondering if you all could give me some advice on what unit to check out. i would l like to have a GPS built in and software preloaded, if that is possible. And i was also wondering if there are any sites that can help with reading the graph, sort of a tutorial. Thanks guys

LOOKING FOR MY FIRST BOAT!

Outboard trouble
Switched parts around and finally figured out a bad power pack on one side. The motor was running off two cylinders instead of the four. Appreciate the help guys, great website

Outboard trouble
You are correct on the Evinrude. Is there a way to test a rectifier, or just have to buy and see. And there is no over heating.

Outboard trouble
My outboard is having massive power loss. It started all of a sudden, running down the lake then lost power. It won't even plane out. Before the power loss the motor ran rough at idle and after the loss of power the boat runs smooth at idle but will not plane out. RPM gauge doesn't work buy it seems the rpms aren't high enough. Open to suggestions. Wanting to hear what you have to say.
