BPS online sucks. Its online software has a bug which over-charges online orders with coupon. I have been over-charged by the same bug three times this year. A spare spool costs $25 from Shimano. It's actually 56% price hike from fi to fj. (99.99+25)/79.99= 156% the upgrade costs way too much.

The lower priced reels do not include a spare spool. That change was made to keep the initial cost of ownership lower. That was not the case for the very popular Symetre. The previous version Symetre FI was listed at $79.99 and it came with a high quality spare spool. The current Symetre FJ is listed at much higher price $99.99 and no spare spool at all.

BPS is selling its last year's Extreme at only $39.77. They are as good. You can buy TWO with $80.
