  1. Last year when I first started fishing I was in your shoes I loved cranking top water anything I could see or feel. One day I went out and made myself use plastics now I use them almost 95% of the time. A easy way to start is by using a #1 or#2 EWG hook and a Zoom Fat Albert ( I like the rootbeer/pepper green or the watermelon/orange) T-rigged & pegged close to the hook then find a downed tree, stump, dock or a pile of poles like the ones barges tie up to. I like to fish them close up 5 to 10 feet away sometimes I sit right on top of them ( fishing straight down ) let it sit on bottem moving it up and down with the rod tip about every 10 sec. each cast takes about a minute. I have found this to be very successful for me I hope it works for you.
  2. I have a 2005 G3 165 that I love it has just enough boat for one person to handle but I fish alone a lot so thats ok
  3. Dink, I have the same boat 4-stroke and all. I know you had to be sick about it but thank god everyone was ok.
  4. I don't post a lot of questions but when I do RW's reply & opinion is very much respected. Thanks, RW
  5. Schooled by Denny Brauer saved my summer. This was my first year having a boat and fishing in the spring was easy I could through gum on a hook and catch fish. When summer came and it got hot I had no idea how to catch fish. One day I was watching "schooled" and Denny was on some lake in Texas showing what he would have done and broke out a tube and started fishing lay down. He caught some real nice ones, I came on here asked you guys what tubes you liked ( got a great responce) and enjoyed the rest of my summer catching fish. So thanks not only to Denny but you guys also.
  6. Thanks again guys I went out yesterday and got some strike king pro tubes KVD and yum white 4.25 tubes. Between the Strike king and the trusty old brush hog I had a very productive day mainly that strike king what a tube thanks again.
  7. Had the same conditions sunday a I ended up catching a few small ones under docks and lay downs. Better to catch small ones than none at all.
  8. Thanks everyone I will give these a try starting with the ones I can get at the local Dicks sports and Wal-mart if thoese dont do the trick I will try the wicked tubes ond the other online sites.
  9. I am looking to start using tubes alot more for fishing cover like docks and lay down. I have tried the zoom tube and although I am a big fan of most of their plastics I dont care much for their tube. I would like to use something with a little more weight or something with a solid or almost solid center. Any sugestions ? P.S. What size and Kind (not brand) of hook do you use?
  10. I had the same broblem today. In my case the broblem was that i was fishing in a med. current so the worm was moving as fast as i was, and it gave him time to swollow it.
