  1. I usually throw the fish I catch in the livewell until I leave the spot. Seems to work well. Maybe you are fishing tournaments and keep them in the livewell anyway. If not try it. Also with crankbaits sometimes the other fish will get it and they both are hooked at the same time. That is fun. Happened to me once.
  2. I will do that. The aliminum will be lighter to.
  3. I have been using a fiberglass crankbait rod for a few years. It definitely seems like I lose a lot less fish on it. But it really isn't that sensitive. I was looking at the G Loomis crainkbait rods and they are made out of graphite. Are these types of rods as good as fiberglass rods at not ripping the hooks out? I have a G Loomis spinning rod and it is really sensitive and I love it. Also what are some other good crankbait rods that are not as expensive as the G Loomis? Thanks
  4. I pulled up a section of the carpet and it looks like they used PT for the decking. Was this before they changed it? The boat is a 2001.
  5. I have a 2001 Tracker pro team 175. I am going to be replacing the carpet soon. When I do that I want to make the front deck longer. Right now there is empty space in front of the steering console and I feel like it's wasted space. I am going to extend it from in front of the console all the way over to the rod locker on the left side. I was planning on making it out of PT 2x4's and plywood. Should I use something different? Also where can I get compartment lids and handles? Thanks.
  6. Thank you very much for your response. How do you add down imaging and how do you register the unit?
  7. I bought a humminbird 798cisi nvb combo last summer and I am having problems with it. The first problem which has been since it was brand new is that I can be fishing in 5 feet of water and all of a sudden the depth on the screen will just keep changing from 5 feet to 20 feet 2 feet 12 feet etc.and just go crazy. I haven't figured that out yet and now today I have a new problem. As soon as I turn the key to start the motor it loses power and then won't turn back on unless I unplug it and plug it back in. This just started today. Anyone else have any problems like these? It's still under warranty so I might just send it back but don't want to if there is nothing wrong with it. Thanks
  8. Skunked Again, how does it work? I put mine petty much in the same spot but on the port side. I really think that if it is an issue I can trim the motor up a little because I am only using at slow speeds. Thanks!
  9. I can't put it on the step. I just know I will break it. I ended up just putting ot where the old one was. I think if I have problems, I can trim the motor up slightly just when using the side imaging. I have'nt tred it yet but I hope it works.
  10. I am installing my Humminbird 798CI SI combo and they say that you cannot have anything in the way of the side beam including the motor. I don't see how it can be installed anywhere on the back of the boat without the motor blocking it when it's down. The beam must go down at an angle not just sideways or else it would never hit the ground. How far from the motor should it be? It says keep it away at least 15" but the reason is to avoid turbulance not for the side beam. I have a 2001 tracker PT 175. I was going to put it where the old factory installed transducer was because it seems like the best spot. Has anyone installed one of these on a tracker?
  11. Yeah I remember we used to get a lot of big largemouth up there. Nice smallies too though.

  13. I just purchased the humminbird 798CI SI combo NVB for $1000.00 with the navionics chip. Without the chip it was like $800.00 I think and it has side imaging. Not much more the the 788ci combo NVB which I was going to buy without side imaging. Let me know if you want the website for the place I bought it from. I am new to this site so I don't know the rules on posting links.
  14. I just bought a 55# Minn Kota edge for my tracker pro team 175. It was $499.00 from cabelas like two weeks ago. I almost bought the powerdrive but then I read some things I didn't like about them plus I am used to the cable. If you buy it make sure you get a 60 amp circuit breaker. You won't know you need it until you go to install it. I couldn't find one anywhere so I had to order it from cabelas after the fact and wait. I am happy with the motor so far but only had it for two times out
