Nice! What seemed to be the bait of choice?

Dead beat partner!!!!!!!!
That s**cks. I wish I had your patience. That guy would have found a home in the water pretty quick pulling stunts like that. I always help my buddies launch, load, and clean up. I pay for gas when its not my boat and they always reciprocate. Its a team effort when Im on the water with friends and thats what always makes it a good experience. Live and learn I suppose. Hell, I created what may quite posibly be the largest rats nest know to man last night during a hot streak and laughed it off because of the company. Makes you appreciate the good people out there that much more.

Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet?
I got out for a bit last night with a buddy as well. We caught 8 bass and 2 pickerel. The biggest was just over 2 lbs. I found that they were very tight to cover and a bit sluggish before the sun went down. Those fish were caught on worms and sluggos fished slow. I did notice a ton of bait fish in the water hugging the weed patches and structure, though I couldnt get the bass to hit anything other than soft plastics before the sun dissapeared. Threw on a yozuri shallow running crank once the sun was low and had some fun with it. I noticed an almost immediate change in behavior once the sun was behind the trees. The fish became much more aggressive, came out of cover, and started to cruise the open water shallows.

Thats a riot. I've had that happen to me as well. Its so frustrating looking down and seeing that fish staring back at you. Ive had reasonable success throwing spinner baits into the pockets in the pads. Let it sink for a second and then rip it through there. Unhbass' suggesstion is also a very good one.

This baitmonkey I keep hearing about...

Exactly. I was fishing the stumps on the far side of the bridge. Caught some decent size pickerel in there and a couple tiny bass. Im going to make another trip when I can spend more time on that side of the lake. The entire thing looks like it holds fish. It does seem to get ALOT of pressure though.

I know the feeling. But I still give in to the urge and head out any chance I get. Its kind of like golf. All it takes is one good shot to keep you hooked.

Thanks. Ill give that a shot next time Im out. I only had a couple hours so I concentrated on the lilly pads and stumps but it was only 3 feet of water. Stumpfield Marsh is generally pretty shallow from what I could see in the limited areas I was able to fish while I was there. Caught a couple but nothing of any real size.

Stumpfield marsh is dope. I love goin there. Tons of potential Didnt get a chance for a second shot at the marsh this weekend. Though it doesnt sound like anyone had any luck on the water. Any tips youd be willing to share for getting them to hit at stumpfield? Thanks.

Nice fish (again)! Went to stumpfield marsh and did ok. More pickerel than anything, though the size was good and the fight were strong. That place has a ton of potential. Looking forward to getting back out there. Hopefully the weather holds out this weekend so I can get back on the water.

Congrats! Those are awesome fish! Best part Im sure is spending quality time with your son on the water. Nothing like it when I get out with my father as well.

So frustrated!!
This is excellent advice. Im going to put it to immediate use, as I have the same trouble at times as Arashi. When Im not getting strikes, I get horribly impatient and start ripping through the tackle box to find something else as opposed to learning fish the bait properly. I can pretty much gaurantee that Im still going to struggle with the patience thing though.

Nashua River. Sorry. I've gotten in the bad habit of just referring to it as "The River". I've tried pretty much everything, though I usually go with a t-rigged worm. I'll have to try the senko's. I havent given them much of a go yet. We have a boat and we usually go just beyond the Winchester Street ramp, leaving from the dam. The Nashua River frustrates me because I always seem to struggle on it. I usually do alright in most other places. One day Ill figure this place out. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Tried the river for a bit yesterday. Didnt have much luck though. The millfoil is getting pretty thick in there. Come to think of it, I havent had much success on the river, though it looks like such a great largemouth fishery. Anyone have any strategies that seem to work consistently out there? Thank you in advance. Everyone have a great weekend! Here's hoping you spend a fair amount of time on the water reeling them in!

Smallmouth baits for extremely clear water ?
I fish on a lake in the northeast that is very rocky and has visibility up to about 20 ft. Its spring fed and exceptionally clear. Food sources are rainbow smelt and crayfish. You can see them all over the place. Ive taken a number of decent smallmouth in the 3-4 lb range on a yozuri rainbow crystal minnow crank and on spinnerbaits. I usually fish the abrupt depth changes - casting into shallower water (3- 5ft)and letting it stop and fall at the depth break. Its worked pretty well for me in all kinds of weather conditions. Hope this helps.

Went to Massabesic yesterday evening with a buddy. We caught a smallmouth, largemouth, and pickerel. Another largemouth shook the hook with a jump. All were on spinnerbaits either in lilly pads or isolated grass flats in about 5-10 feet of water. I caught the smallmouth and pickerel on a red strike king mini. Strikes were hard to come by. Everyone we talked to at the launch had the same story. Smallie and largemouth were just over a pound. Atleast we didnt get skunked.
